This is the first episode of the TV series "The Name of the Game". Because it was the first, you'd expect the episode to be fantastic. It was good...but fantastic, no.
Jeff (Anthony Franciosa) is a crusading reporter who is approached by a woman claiming to be the mistress of William McKendricks (Robert Webber). She gives Jeff a photo of herself with McKendricks as proof and they agree to meet later to discuss her claim. Surprisingly, only a short time later, she jumped to her death...or was she murdered? And, what did McKendricks have to do with this? Considering McKendricks is a rich industrialist who is about to receive a big government appointment, it's important Jeff determine what exactly is REALLY happening.
The basic story is excellent and though-provoking. My problem with the story is that it later becomes too talkative and complicated. I really think all the political intrigue in the second half should have been streamlined a bit. Still, the story idea is fascinating...and believable. Worth a look...and available like most episodes of the series on YouTube.
