The Rainmaker
JordanThomasHall19 June 2017
Nanny's (Juliet Mills) Uncle Horace (famed song-and-dance man Ray Bolger, The Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz", Barnaby in "Babes in Toyland", "Where's Raymond?") arrives to the Everett household. He comes straight from the South Seas bearing tropical/tribal gifts. In the middle of a drought he performs a successful rain dance. He shocks Nanny by telling her that he is finally looking for a job, but only on a temporary basis, as he needs $1,000 to buy a wife. He loves Luana (Naomi Stevens) and has her parent's approval to be married, but the island custom is to buy one's wife from the father. Mr. Rosenbloom (Martin Speer, "The Hills Have Eyes") of KMSPTV hears of the rain dance and offers to televise dance for 10 straight days, benefiting by the advertising, and paying Uncle Horace $1,000 if it rains. The wild dance with lively Polynesian music is quite the show, but isn't producing results. Luana comes to visit, pampering Uncle Horace with her every move, upsetting some women in the neighborhood. Will everyone's spirits be dampened?
