Fran, the Sheffield's, C.C. and Niles end up stranded at Sylvia's on their way to the airport, ruining the family's plan for a tropical vacation (with C.C. on her way to meet a senator for a "date"), stuck due to the worst blizzard in New York in 30 years. It's cultural shock for the goyish Sheffield's although Maggie hits it off with Sylvia's cute neighbor, the funny and charming Gregg Rogell, a promising 17 year old stand-up comic. He gets laughs naturally in this episode simply by being himself (and has gone on to be successful professionally as well) and should have been made a semi regular. There's the typical sparring between Niles and C.C., the suspicion that Sylvia is cheating on unseen hubby Morty, and the conclusion that this sabbatical from their Park Avenue brownstone will never be forgotten. One of the better season one episodes with plenty of laughs and details involving the growing closeness between Fran and everybody else, even snooty C.C.
