With Maxwell threatening to leave the theater after his new play gets no love from the critics and losing a tennis game to Fran, he needs to reexamination his life and comes out of it practically a different person. Fran goes out of his way to get him into therapy (with guest Dr. Joyce Brothers!) on the pretense of getting more help for Gracie (who could rival Dr. Brothers with her knowledge of psychic terms) while C.C. bemoans the possibility of the end of her association with the man she's hopelessly in love with. A very funny episode that has Madeline Zima nearly stealing it, but temporarily upstaged by Fran's unseen father's 1970's toupee. The crowd of crowing hens outside Sylvia's apartment making a play for the sexily dressed Maxwell is hysterical.
