For a Few Nichols More

Warning: Spoilers
NBC supposedly wanted more action and jeopardy in the "Nichols" series and they got it in this episode.

Other than a brief scene at the top of the show, most of this episode takes place out of the town of Nichols and in the country of Mexico. There Nichols and Orv (John Beck) fly in using the plane they co-own to try and rescue the daughter of US Army Captain Cutler and gain the $10,000 reward.

Besides the plane flight scenes, Nichols gets beat up, uses a machine gun against a bandit band, gets shot, talks his way out of being executed and turns the tables on the bad guy.

It may be action packed , but its very unsatisfying in that it doesn't really feel like a Nichols episode. Nichols is far too quick to take on very dangerous odds--odds he like Bret Maverick would avoid when they smelled too much danger.

Perhaps this was an attempt to show NBC what the show could be like if they bought what happens to Nichols in the final episode and picked the show up for a second season.

Though I love watching James Garner, I can see why they passed.
