Stan Butler - Time Traveller?
ShadeGrenade15 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Stan is showing Mum and Olive around a local transport museum. He falls asleep at the wheel of a vintage omnibus, and dreams that he is living 100 years in the past, and still a bus driver. Olive is a would-be suffragette, Mum is a washerwoman, Jack is a Luddite opposed to the fitting of engines in the omnibuses, while Blakey is...as appalling as ever.

Did you think 'Life On Mars' was original? Well, here, its Stan Butler who goes the Sam Tyler route of waking up in the past. The change of setting makes this an unusual and enjoyable episode from the pens of Bob Grant and Stephen Lewis. Nice period flavour too.

Funniest moment - Stan driving under a low bridge and leaving Blakey suspended by his fingertips!

The last Great Episode of the Series
Robinson251127 September 2015
After Arthur left the series, On the Buses had a few decent episodes but mainly began churning out some really drab ones, On the Omnibuses is possibly the last great episode of the series. It's full of the fast paced puns and, for want of a better word, "action-scenes" that are reminiscent of the show's third series. Watching these different incarnations of the characters is hilarious right from the off, it's also noteworthy that On the Omnibuses is actually historically accurate. The final act of this episode is the best part of it, the final 10 minutes are so convoluted and funny that I often go back to the episode just for that.

Overall, On the Omnibuses might just be the last great episode the series produced, if you don't believe me, just look at the episodes that followed!

''Jobs for women!''
Rabical-9130 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Blakey has arranged an exhibition display of vintage buses at the depot to commemorate Luxton & District's 100th anniversary. Whilst showing Mum and Olive around, Stan falls asleep in the cab of a vintage bus. What follows is a dream sequence in which Stan is working as a Busman back in the 1800's, with him and Jack being in charge of horse drawn buses. Mum and Olive scrape a living by taking in washing, though Olive later tries becoming a suffragette, chaining herself to railings and demanding jobs for women. Blakey's nickname here is the Kaiser instead of Hitler.

'On The Omnibuses' is by far the worst of all 'On The Buses' episodes. The period setting for me was boring and did not work at all. Bob Grant and Stephen Lewis indulged themselves far too much here.

Funniest bit - Stan hungrily tucking into Olive's homemade stew, only to find that by accident she has put washing soda in it instead of salt. He had been enjoying it until then!

A very imaginative, funny episode.

The Luxton Bus Company celebrates it's hundred year anniversary, and commemorates that it's fifty years since the first motorised bus left the dept, to celebrate, Blakey has put on an exhibition.

I've approached series seven with a degree of caution, but I have to admit, I loved this episode, full marks for originality, this worked very well, great to see an episode set outside of a studio.

Lots of funny scenes, including Blakey getting a pasting from the old lady with the umbrella, and Stan tucking into Olive's stew, two very funny moments.

They did a good job with the visuals, it was nice to see the cast dressed up in some historical costumes, they looked pretty good, olive certainly looked the part.

9/10.
