In the name of the father

Warning: Spoilers
Bailey tries to impress Kate's dad, a strict man who looks to protect his daughter, perhaps feeling guilty of the divorce of Kate's mother. He tells his siblings to behave in a dinner at Salinger's and tries to show that Charlie is an authority figure for them. But his plan backfires, so Bailey finally goes straight to Mr Bishop, and tells he cares about Kate and his family, proving he's a good guy. Personally, i wouldn't look so hard for the approval of this divorced man, he doesn't seem to be a good father (and in the episode Thanksgiving is revealed what he did to Kate's mom).

Charlie struggles when Joe promotes him to manager so he wants to quit. In a selfish mode, he says he doesn't see himself happy in the restaurant and wants to leave it even after learning it might go under. But Joe puts him back in line by remembering all what Nicolas Salinger did for him and his family, and what means the restaurant to all of them, it's also Joe's life. Joe will leave it one day to Charlie. So, mainly by Joe's influence, Charlie finally starts to act like a man, decides to stay bartending and helps Claudia at home, like their father did.

On the other hand, PK returns to Julia after running away from a troubled home life. He's being hitted by his stepdad, and his mother does nothing to protect him. After the police looks for him, the Salingers are forced to kick him out (if not social services might split them). PK leaves in good terms with Julia, and goes looking his dad. This was a hint for the future: because Julia will fall for Griffin, the same way she did for PK. In conclusion, was a good episode, where we learn more about Nicolas Salinger. Also, the lawyer Emmett was introduced, he will appear in some episodes later until season 4. And one last detail: i was surprised to not see Kirsten in the episode, i know there was enough screen time for PK, Joe, Kate's dad and Kate, but she still is Owen's nanny, so at least one scene with her could have been filmed.

Fathers and Sons (#1.6)

Warning: Spoilers
Bailey gets to know Kate's father but he is not too impressed with him. PK who is abused by his step father asks to stay over with the Salingers but after some time they can't let him stay because police is looking for him. There are problems at the restaurant and Charlie wants to leave but then stays to help keep up the business of his father.

A nice episode. Bailey trying to impress Kate's father was the fun part of the episode. Especially when he tells Charlie how to behave when he meets him.

PK's story is pretty sad. It is also well done in how Julia cares for him but needs to choose her family and keep them out of risk of being separated.

Charlie's story is also pretty good. It shows us the struggle Charlie has to live his own life but at the same time staying with the business where he has an emotional connection because of his father.
