- Season 1 Episode 34 Bullet for a Badge Prologue: Jacoby is ambushed with gunfire walking out the police station from responding to a tip. Jacoby talks to Pete and Captain Loomis from his hospital bed. Pete is tailed leaving the hospital, stopping at Mother's, the owner made the inquiries and Pete had a visitor with a bucket full of worry, saying she would be back. She comes back, but the man in the car ambushing Jacoby, walks between them, she reacts by leaving in a hurry, and the same guy tailing Pete is now outside Mother's. Pete talks with Mother, she mentions Alfie Hicks called, and the guy startling the woman, is at the bar drinking and listening. Alfie will be risking too much seen at a police station to look at mug books and Sergeant Davis is putting his job at risk letting Pete borrow the mug books for Alfie to look at off site. Relinquished the books, Pete finds Alfie, shot, dying, saying Donniger was his shooter. Our PI is forced at gunpoint to the Donniger car to talk; it doesn't go well for Donniger is peeved. A hospital visit has Jacoby saying Loomis would be the guy for Donniger to lean on, not him. Calling for Loomis, Pete gets the Captain's home address from Davis, Loomis went home. Pete goes to Loomis' home, the woman at Mother's wanting to see him answers the door. It is the Captain's daughter, scared, after Pete tells of Jacoby shot, Alfie murdered. Loomis arrives at his door, badly beaten by Donniger, admitting on the take for three years. A phone call is from the cop guarding Jacoby's room concerned about a car circling the block. Pete and Loomis pull up behind Donniger, his man is at the front door, shot by Pete, firing from his car, Donniger shoots at Pete, but Loomis blocks him, taking the bullet, Pete shoots Donniger. Jacoby was just sedated so Pete tells him in person, they will talk later.
