Several characters ID the gun the dead suspect had as a "9mm magnum" or a "magnum". In fact there is no such round. The 9mm is simply called a 9mm or more accurately a 9mm Parabellum. The 357 round is a magnum, and 44 caliber rounds are also available as magnums.
Sgt. DellaMaggiori calls hollow point rounds "hot loads" and comments on the damage they do. In fact, hollow point ammunition is far safer for police use than full metal jacket ammunition, which can easily over-penetrate a target and cause collateral damage.
