Action, Excitement and Surprises!!! This Episode has none of them.

The show's 25 minute action formula is now well and truly established by this point, with all of its flaws clearly on show. The plot's premise is underdeveloped, the characters are one dimensional and the closing theme is the highlight of the show.

The script is dry, and what little humour there is falls flat. Remember the comedic camaraderie between Curtis and Moore in The Persuaders, or Damon and Gaunt in The Champions. There is none of this here and subsequently there is little to no chemistry between the main actors. Robert Vaughn appears arrogantly distant, Tony Anholt is criminally underused, while Nyree Dawn Porter's acting at times is as shocking as her wardrobe.

A forgettable episode, and the sooner I forget it the better.

Disappearing Trick

When Harry Rule catches a felon trying to flee Paris airport in drag. The case hits the newspaper headlines.

Brad Huron (Derren Nesbitt) is certainly interested in disappearing and makes a bet with a friend. He has not yet done anything wrong, he is just unhinged. Brad is also the son of a wealthy mogul.

Brad decides to go to the Protectors. Harry is not interested but Contessa Caroline di Contini thinks it would be fun to help him.

So Brad and Contessa drive off. However Brad's father calls in Harry Rule and tells him that his son can get violent.

It does not take long for a Gerry Anderson series to get sillier and sillier. This is only the fourth episode and it is hard to keep a straight face with all the foolishness.

For example, Harry goes to a restaurant to look for the Contessa who hotfoots it to her car, he could had kept Paul as a lookout.
