This episode of Rawhide has hands Steve Forrest, Richard X. Slattery, and Rayford Barnes plotting to steal the herd's Reymuda and sell them to the cavalry which is always in need of mounts. But Tom Tully and his grandson Michel Petit whom Tully raised as is son also by a bit of subterfuge have joined the trail drive and they are searching for Forrest.
This was not one of the stronger Rawhide stories. I could not quite buy the fact that Forrest does not recognize his father although the explanation is that he had a bushy beard when Forrest was a kid. Also had Tully and Petit not joined the drive how were they going to work their scheme as Petit is made an innocent part of it. Eric Fleming is no fool.
Still the scenes with Forrest and Petit are poignant and Tully turns in a nice performance as the father given a second chance to get it right.
