Eric Fleming: Gil Favor

Quotes

  • Gil Favor : When things are goin' right on a drive, a trail hand will call everything from a calf to a ten-year old bull, a cow. When they're not goin' right, which is most of the time, he'll call cattle lots of other names, very few of them are complimentary. I know 'em all. I'm Gil Favor, trail boss.

  • Harry Tasunka : Paneequa, not Plains Indian.

Gil Favor : They must come down from the hills sometime.

    Harry Tasunka : No.

Gil Favor : Well, you did.

  • Flagg : This is where we are, Mr Favor.

    Gil Favor : Heliotrope.

    Flagg : It's a fancy name for a town on a map.

Gil Favor : Those'd be the hills.

Flagg : The Haunted Hills. That's a lot of ground for a ghost to cover.

  • Gil Favor : You gentlemen look busy.

Meeker : We were just asking the young lady some questions.

Gil Favor : With a whip?

Meeker : You know a better way?

  • Harry Tasunka : It died because the Paneequa wanted it to die.

Gil Favor : Oh, what'd they do? Cast a spell on it?

Harry Tasunka : They denied the people of Heliotrope access to water, abundant enough for a hundred towns like this, and a hundred tribes like the Paneequa.

  • Harry Tasunka : To the Paneequa, I am white. Which means enemy. Which means unclean.

Gil Favor : I don't know much about tribal customs.

Harry Tasunka : Paneequa not ordinary Indian. They're the guardian of the valley, the valley of the Panwwqua where the spirit of the dead sing always. Where they dance 50 feet above the ground and the touch is hot and deadly.

  • Meeker : Mr Favor, I was one of the best, bar none.

Gil Favor : I know, Wishbone. Mountain men. But that was a certain number of years ago.

Meeker : You ever see me in action, it's a sight you'll never forget.

Gil Favor : That's what I'm afraid of.

Meeker : Now see here, Mr Favor.

  • Gil Favor : His throat's been cut.

Henderson : Well, that kinda makes a difference.

Wishbone : Why? We all figured this wasn't going to be any quilting bee. Now we know, that's the only difference.

  • Gil Favor : One of those Indians out there'll be his father.

Flagg : You know what a son means to a father, don't you?

    Henderson : Yeah, sort of.

    Flagg : Ain't you a family man?

Henderson : No, never married. I got no right.

    Flagg : Why not?

Henderson : Because their job is dying.

    Flagg : Ain't everybody's?

  • Garrison : Captain Loomis was a medical student.

    Gil Favor : Well, Loomis?

Capt. Loomis : You want me to save his life so that he can grow up and kill more white men?

Gil Favor : You're gonna have to do it, Wishbone.

Wishbone : Well, I done a little doctoring, but I'm no surgeon.

  • Indian Girl : The boy ran away during the night. He wanted to see what white men looked like.

Gil Favor : We're sorry it cost him his life.

  • Gil Favor : Captain, you forgot your uniform. So'd your men.

    Capt. Loomis : Civilian mission.
