Sheb Woolley who returned to Rawhide ran into some interesting people while away from trail driving. One of them is Gregg Palmer whom he recognizes as a Comanchero. Gregg Palmer hasn't forgotten that either, he and a friend are on the drive to get into Indian territory to find white captives who are fetching big prices by families.

In the meantime Clint Eastwood after getting an arrow wound is treated at the Apache camp and runs into Davey Davison one such white captive. Michael Forest the chief doesn't want to give up his captives and Davison herself isn't sure what world she belongs in.

A lot of the elements of two classic westerns John Ford's Two Rode Together and John Huston's The Unforgiven are found here. And as usual Eric Fleming who just wants to get his herd to market is dragged into something truly not his business.

Forest gives a nice and three dimensional role of a chief trying to right by his tribe in a changing world that ain't changing to the betterment of his people. He and Clint Eastwood have some interesting dialog on that and other subjects.

One to check out.
