A well acted story that ended with a flash.
kfo94947 October 2015
Robert Vaughn is the acting Marshal of North Fork while Micah is away. The young Marshal, Dan Willard, is a man that has a chip on his shoulders ever since being West Point turned him down due to his poor eye-sight. Now with a group of cowhands in town making trouble, Dan is going to show that he is up to enforcing the law.

When Dan post an order to turn in all guns, it ticks the cowpokes off. One of the cowhands is gunned down by the acting Marshal, the leader of the cowhands calls an all out war on the Marshal. But the acting Marshal refuses to back down.

The only thing wrong with the episode is that it ended too fast. Nearly the entire episode lead up to the main confrontation between the Marshal and the head of the cowhands. Let me warn you not to blink while watching or you will miss the ending. A nice and will acted story that just ended too fast.

Robert Vaughn rant - no not really ; )

Sorry just a comment but there's already a really good review posted like seven years ago by "kfo" - something. I've read other reviews from them & they're always quite good. Ok so all i wanted to say is, how 'bout that Marshall Dan Willard aka Robert Vaughn irl huh? The character kinda sorta ruined the episode for me. So i'm not sure ... does that mean that Mr Vaughn is a really really good actor? Or, a really really bad actor?! But there is that something about Robert Vaughn, he's an actor who perfected the UGH! Smarmy rich boy entitled jock ... oops ... look. Don't get me started! ... sorry, he was super good at playing that "i'm better than everyone/you're all beneath me" role that made you want to just reach through the screen & slap him silly! So to be so good, you'd prolly assume "years of practice" right? But no! Not in Robert's case! As we could clearly see, even at the young age of (approx 26 i believe) Robert already had that ICK! Character perfected! ... OR! Maybe he was born with it?!? Gosh i sure hope he didn't act like that irl! Nah! Simply a very good actor. I'm sure that's it! ; p.

Missed the Point
fenwickbob22 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think everybody has missed the point here. This episode is so out of character for our main hero, Lucas McCain, as well as the whole town of North Fork. These cowboys start off by riding into town and start shooting at innocent townsfolk who did nothing more than give them a sideways glance. Robert Vaughn's character may have been a little misguided in his approach, but to make him out as the villain? And for Lucas McCain to be so dismissive as to the behavior of these cowboys and their trail boss? I mean, this is a western, isn't it? Would Sam Peckinpah have wrote a script where Lucas McCain decides to let these cowboys ride roughshod over the town? This episode makes no sense.
