Hartman knocks out Rockford in the bedroom, Mai runs out the door and Hartman knocks her out in the hall. Both Mai and Rockford are unconscious and lying several feet apart, Rockford in the bedroom, Mai in the hall. Later Mai and Rockford are lying next to each other in the bedroom when they wake up.
Jim and Mai meet up with her friend Nguyen. However, Mai mispronounces his name. "Nguyen" is the most common surname in Vietnam and while it is very difficult for Americans to pronounce properly, mispronouncing it is something that a native-born speaker (as Mai was supposed to be) would never do. Mai was played by actress Irene Yah-Ling Sun, who is not Vietnamese but of Chinese ancestry and raised in New York City.
When Rocky drives his truck onto the beach, he squeals his tires on the sand. BUT one can NOT squeal one's tires on sand. Sand is too lose to do so. One can only squeal tires on a hard top, such as concrete or asphalt, where one can "Lay rubber".
Rockford finds Benson Kelly working in a hospital cafeteria. Rockford leaves his card and Kelly goes back to work. In the next scene, Rockford drives up to his trailer. Kelly is inside acting as a look out and escapes before Rockford gets there. Although he knows where Rockford lives, Kelly has no idea what kind of car Rockford drives.
