During the trial on the evidence board is a newspaper clipping about his arrest that has his photo. The photo is the same one Rockford used for his ad in the phone book. Rockford would have never provided them with the photo to use.
In the last few minutes of this episode Rockford, the judge, and the retired sheriff have taken the tow truck operator into custody and he's handcuffed in the back seat of the old squad car. As Jim is finishing laying a trap the judge is standing next to him when he tells the sheriff to move his car. As the sheriff runs behind the judge, we hear an engine starting before the sheriff gets to the car. There's no one else there to start the car.
When Rockford calls his answering machine to check his messages he tells the operator his phone number is (213) 555-9000. This contradicts the phone number (311) 555-2368 seen on Rockford's phone at the beginning of every show.
The judge wouldn't have looked at the files Rockford gave him. It was stolen property and it was improper for him to look at material not entered at the trial.
