Lucky Colonel Austin

Warning: Spoilers
There is only one reason to watch "Act of Piracy." It's not the plot, which is fairly routine, and involves Steve Austin performing his bionics in the Caribbean. He is initially tasked with placing earthquake sensors on the ocean floor. Soon his shipmates are captured by military members of a hostile, fictional island country and Steve is stranded in a sunken diving bell.

It's not the action. After a surprisingly easy escape from the bottom of the ocean Steve demonstrates his remarkable swimming skills and pretty much single-handedly demolishes the villains. And, as usual, Oscar is on hand to fret over his welfare from a safe distance.

It's not Steven McNally, a familiar character actor from many Universal adventures from the 50s. He must have worn a hairpiece back then because he is nearly stone bald here.

It's not the music which contains a jaunty main theme that eventually wears out its welcome when it is repeated to the point of insanity.

No, the only reason to watch this episode is for Lenore Kasdorf, who portrays Sharon Ellis.

Oh. My. God.

She is unbelievably gorgeous and her glorious figure is shown off to optimum advantage. I could go on and on but please, do yourself a favor and watch "Act of Piracy" just for her. How she didn't become a star is a mystery.

The Diving Bell
AaronCapenBanner27 May 2015
Steve Austin(Lee Majors) is inside a diving bell in the ocean placing new earthquake detecting sensors on the bottom when the private research ship that brought him there is hijacked by a hostile military government that has just broken off relations with the United States, and the general in charge severs the lifeline to the diving bell, taking the crew hostage. Steve(of course) escapes and makes his way to shore in order to rescue his friends, but a traitor among them may endanger all their lives as they make their escape back home, where Oscar Goldman(Richard Anderson) awaits with naval assistance. Mediocre plot but still reasonably exciting.

I agree with one of the other reviewers...the episode itself is kind of blah... But what a Bombshell Lenore Kasdorf is!

Decent episode, with the eye-catching Lenore Kasdotf

I have to agree with other reviewers: Lenore Kasdorf is the reason this episode is memorable! She's remarkably beautiful, and as the first setting is on a boat, she's attired in a nicely alluring outfit that does justice to her great looks. After watching this, I quickly checked my dvd collection and was pleased to find that I had a number of other shows where she guest starred, including Matt Houston, Barnaby Jones, Cannon, and so on.

Aside from her, it's a pretty standard adventure for Steve. There are some good settings, including on boats. Steve is always a very likeable guy. To me the best episodes are those where he has a strong relationship with somebody and shows his kind heart. This isn't one of those top-notch episodes, but it's still good.

Warning: Spoilers
So Steve Austin in this episode is super unwoke. He shows no respect for Julio, tossing him the gun and saying Merry Christmas like he was throwing trash at a rat. This would never fly today.
