Episode 12 with 3 characters making their series exit
kevinolzak19 April 2010
Episode 12 would prove to be the last for Robert Urich,Harold Gould, and Udana Power.Things begin with Jessica delivering a final ultimatum to her philandering husband, with a beaming Benson in attendance.Jodie and Barney Gerber each check out of the hospital, but not before exchanging addresses and phone numbers.Nurse Nancy(Udana Power)admits that she'll miss them both, then secures a dinner date with Jodie, which makes Burt ecstatic. He even offers his favorite cologne("Grunt!")and suggests a romantic French restaurant("so dark you gotta feel around for your food").Father Tim tries to comfort a suicidal Corinne at the Pussycat Motel, only to be interrupted by the all-knowing Maid(a hilarious cameo from Shelley Morrison),who is totally unfazed to see a priest in the room(she mentions guests who dress up as Little Bo Peep and King Kong). When he claims to be a real priest, she introduces herself as Joan of Arc! Mrs. Sheila Fine(Nita Talbot)is again discovered hiding in Peter's bathtub(she tells Jessica she's voting),prompting an angry Jessica to threaten to kill Peter for lying to her and being unfaithful to Corinne. The episode ends with Peter in the shower, murdered by a knife,a brick, and a gunshot(also strangled and suffocated,as revealed in the next entry),but not before recognizing his killer just before he dies.

Once again, it's brilliant.

Jessica lays down the law to Chester, giving him an ultimatum, she also goes to sort out Peter. It's time for Jodie to leave hospital, and leave his new friends behind.

Terrific again, this first series is proving to be magical, incredibly funny and moving. The standout scene is that moment where Jodie says goodbye to Barney, it's not just a comedy fest, these characters actually mean something.

I am gutted to see this was Harold Gould's final episode, such a shame, Barney mentioned how easy it is to lose touch with people, and that's very true.

I had forgotten how natural an actor Billy Crystal is, he's wonderful, and that smile is enigmatic, great actor.

Bob has become my favourite character, that put down of Jodie, side splitting.

Grunt, is buy a bottle of that!

9/10.
