Dennis Waterman plays Frank Gosling. He is pig swill collector along with his brother in law Ron Murray.

As an ex army man, Frank has a contract with the army for disposing of the waste.

Frank and Ron make a daring theft of a laser guided weapon while it is being tested by the army.

An embarrassment for the army and they hope it does not fall into wrong hands.

Craven and Haggerty are on the case. Frank and his dad have served in the military so they have an inkling that Frank might be able to use the weapon.

Frank's sister Jean (Stephanie Lawrence) is politically active. She is irate that the families are living in a condemned council estate and no one is doing anything about it.

Special Branch think that she might be more involved in the theft to make a political point.

However Frank and Ron seem to be more interested in selling to the highest bidder. Although later it seems their motive is more about political point scoring about their housing conditions.

Although the raid was daring, I felt it soon became clear that Frank has chewed a bit more off that he anticipated. Both of them just seem to be on the run and confused as to what to do next.

Their motives for the theft was murky and at the end there was a twist. The weapon did not work. The top brass were happy to give the impression that it did work.

The casting of Dennis Waterman was interesting given that he would soon be appearing in The Sweeney.
