That '70s Musical (#4.24)
ComedyFan201013 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Fez has a musical performance and is very upset that he doesn't see his friends in the audience. They still come and were just late because they toilet papered the house of his music teacher.

This episode is pretty great. I loved the musical idea for it. All the songs were very amusing and well performed. I especially love the Happy Together! Eric and Hyde sing so well. Kitty and Fez are super cute. Red's part is absolutely hilarious and then having Bob ride in on a car was a very special moment as well.

And so sweet that Fez is loved by his friends, not that I ever questioned it.

About the music teacher
supahrob23 July 2009
I really liked this episode - but I am surprised that no one mentioned that the music teacher was Roger Daltry... who was the singer for The Who.

I am also surprised that they didn't make use of that - maybe have the gang sing a song from The Who. I know, they weren't really a "70's" band, but so what, it would have been funny. This also would have been a great episode for cameo's - but even without em, this was a fun episode.

I also thought the singing was pretty good - not great, but pretty good. I also really like 70's music, so I enjoyed this episode.

To many people seem to want each episode to be some Oscar winning production - but I watch TV for entertainment, and this episode entertained me.

I thought this episode was super entertaining with all the singing and dancing! It's fun to see the characters out of their element sometimes!

i loved it *spoiler*!!!

Warning: Spoilers
i think this episode was not very creative but very entertaining. i loved how the band member from the who came back and played Fez's music teacher. the best part of the episode though was when Fez imagines all of the group singing "the joker" by Steve Miller Band. Then in the end when they finally come to Fez's concert they have a fight over which one of them would be the midnight toker. In the end Fez was not mad at the gang because the TP'ed his much hated music teachers house and brought back his mailbox.

*another key scene is when Fez pictures Eric,Hyde, and himself as one big happy family and they sing "I CANT SEE ME LOVING NOBODY BUT YOU FOR ALL MY LIFE!" they walk down the steps in glittering jumpsuits and are hysterical

An excellent and apparently underrated '70s episode!

I was shocked to see this episode rated so low (at this time, 4.4/10). I saw it on TV today, and like "That Disco Episode," it's totally underrated. It's a brilliantly done episode in which the fact that the gang isn't coming to Fez's performance makes him feel they don't really like him. There are plenty of hilariously lame musical numbers (don't worry-- they're both funny *and* lame), including "Space Cowboy" (that one was amazing). It also features a hideously uptight British music teacher who hates Americans, viewing them as chubby cheeseburger-eating, TV-addicted nincompoops. Of course, Fez isn't American. But he still hates him.

All in all, this was definitely one of the best episodes in an amazing sitcom.

Bizarre Episode

Warning: Spoilers
During the scene where Donna, Hyde, Fez & Eric do Steve Miller Band's The Joker while in the circle! Then the camera view is from the ceiling as the four go into some sequential arm movements, and they flash the swastika a few times! Not making any type of accusation. Just stating what I saw! One of my favorite episodes for sure! Most of the musical numbers are done in dream sequences as Fez looks off into the distance! Great episode for sure! Just not altogether sure how the multiple swastikas got past the cutting room floor! Okay peace out✌🏼

This is the single worst episode of the series. The only reason I didn't give it 0 stars is that wasn't an option.

Not quite there

Warning: Spoilers
This was only 6 months after the Buffy episode of "Once More, With Feeling" that was a pretty decent musical success. It seems kinda like this show was trying it out as well. I think a few of the TV shows of the time did this.

The success with Buffy's was because they had some stars with musical experience/talent and they integrated the plot better with good direction.

This one seemed to miss the mark. I give it points for effort and the fact that it reminds me of the cheesy Brady Bunch Variety Hour and others like that from the 70's.

Musicals are a ton of hard work, so kudos to the actors for trying so hard and doing a pretty good job of the choreography. The singing/lip syncing was on the painful side. If they were going to lip sync Donna and Jackie during Love Hurts, they could have got voices that matched the tone of the song better.

Awful

Why do all of these American sit-coms insist on doing a song and dance episode? They are always terrible and this is no exception, in fact it is probably worse than most.

The story line is so weak and none of the regular characters can really carry a song. I suppose the joke is having Roger Daltrey in the episode and not letting hm sing, while all those who can't do. But that never really made me laugh.

Really bad!
TOMNEL3 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I can see an episode of That 70's Show that's a musical, but this was just stupid. It deals with the gang not coming to Fez's singing performance so he feels lonely and many songs go through his mind and the gang sings them. It's really stupid. The singing isn't very good, and neither is the plot. All of the songs are done on really cheap looking sets, that look like people tried to make them look like expensive stupid sets. I think my ultimate reaction to this was not one of hatred, however this is pure corn and cheese, and virtually no laughs.

My rating: * out of ****.
