- A group of four men shoot a lone man who is on their trail. The Virginian finding Johnny Moon critically shot brings him back to Shiloh where they have Dr. Spaulding treat him. Although severely wounded, the fit and stout man recovers quickly while he stays at Shiloh. The man has a British accent and he confirms he was raised in England. Stacey, Elizabeth, and The Virginian find him to be interesting to them in spite of some strange ideals about life and offer him a job hoping he stays at Shiloh. However, he quickly turns down the offer indicating he must continue on his mission. The private detective Lawson asks The Virginian if he has seen Moon. He tells The Virginian his agency was hired by the Canadian government to bring Moon a deserting Royal Canadian Mounty back to Canada for trial. The Virginian does not betray Moon but confronts Moon who tells him he is after a wolfer Joe Hogan who killed two Indians in Canada. When he learns they are nearby, he goes after them with The Virginian and the detective following him.—Anonymous
