Lady From Wichita
BMChin12 September 2013
For fans of The Virginian the episode titled, The Lady from Wichita, is very entertaining. It has elements of comedy and drama. Two women head out to Medicine Bow to claim a ranch left by a former customer of their saloon in Wichita. The rest of the episode is about their attempts to become part of the community. The two women are played by Rose Marie and Joan Collins who add comedy and sex appeal in equal amounts. SPOILER: The way the episode ended the viewer is lead to believe that the two former saloon keepers are accepted by the town of Medicine Bow and even hired a new foreman. What I don't understand is if they end up with a ranch next to the Graingers why don't we see them again in succeeding episodes?

From the saloon to respectabiity
Nat-2120 May 2024
A delightful episode that features two (in 1967) current and future TV stars. Rose Marie and Joan Collins shine as rough-around-the-edge saloon owners in Wichita who move west to Medicine Bow after learning that one of them inherited a ranch. They plan to sell it and start a new chapter in San Francisco, but things change when they arrive at the ranch. There is a bit of culture shock as they encounter a different community populated by church-going folks with manners and decency. There is some good humor and some flirting, with a little blackmail and theft thrown in for good measure. They face two questions: Will they embrace the rural life, and if their somewhat sordid past is revealed, will the community embrace them?

Two Generations Meet, Successfully

A good-hearted and comedic-in-parts episode of this series. Very interesting to have costarred a young and vibrant Joan Collins and a mature and wisecracking Rose Marie. The ladies sally through the episode really well, and I must admit I did not know Rose or Joan had much cowgirl (or saloon girl here) in them, but they do. Enjoyable on a lot of levels, and for followers of character actors check Harry Lauter and the inimitable L. Q. Jones as cast members. But two things; first, when did Rose Marie ever show that much cleavage again if ever? And two, anybody but me notice that Rose Marie has a pretty obvious full body tan with no lines on that pretty-nice bod? Just sayin'.

Let's discuss creepy reviews ...

So i'm just writing this in case poster @charlesfroland ever checks back in. The thing is, you didn't say anything wrong. There's something ab your comment (especially the title) that creeps me out. i even mostly agree with you. lol i gave you a mercy thumbs up since i realized you meant well. All i can tell you is that when i read your words i pictured a lecherous frustrated ultra horny old man drooling & giggling wildly as he hovered over his laptop while he fantasized of the "girls" in their pj's having a pillow fight. Feather pillows. You know, bc they'll eventually bust open and the feathers will float dreamily around the pretty pink bedroom as the ladies battle rages on in slow motion (of course). Anyhoo. ... Prolly you're none of those things! Just wanted to let you know maybe why you might not get all the "thumbs up" that i think you deserve. Try not to sound so icky next time.

The inheritance
bkoganbing16 October 2020
This Virginian story has Joan Collins and Rose Marie arriving in Medicine Bow to claim an inheritance. Said inheritance being a nice ranch adjoining Shiloh.

The two women worked in a saloon in Wichita and they aren't quite sure who bequeathed them this property. But it turns out the owner was wounded in a gun battle and this was his way of paying back.

Collins and Rose Marie pretend to be long lost relations of the deceased, they don't want folks to know about their background. But when Harry Lauter comes to town who knew them back when the plans are put in disarray.

This is a nice story and the main lesson to be drawn from it is that people will surprise you. Watch and see what I mean.

Very SEXXXY Episode !!!

Joan Collins and Rose Marie had good chemistry and comedic chops together in this episode. They also had alluring charm, Joan with her gorgeous eyes and beautiful lips and Rose with an older sexiness and warm smile. Very lovely to watch both of them together.
