Quotes

  • Flint McCullough : Turn him loose and let's get out of here.

Col. Vasily : I don't take orders from you. Only from the Countess Baranof.

    Flint McCullough : Countess Baranof?

Col. Vasily : Yes, from the court of Alexander the Second.

Flint McCullough : We'll discuss that later. Right now, let's get out of here.

Col. Vasily : They killed my horses and my men. I don't turn him loose.

Flint McCullough : [Flint cuts free the Indian who has been whipped by Colonel Vasily, and as he turns, he draws his gun to fire a shot at the sword the Russian has drawn on him]  Now let's get out of here.

  • Col. Vasily : On your feet. A peasant does not sit in the presence of a Countess. I warned you, Countess. The American does not know place.

Countess Baranof : Don't mind him. he doesn't know the customs of your country yet Sometimes I think he is more class conscious than what we are.

    [Flint laughs heartily]

Countess Baranof : Are you laughing at me?

Flint McCullough : Oh no, no. But, do you realise what the odds are against my running into a real Russian Countess out here?

  • Flint McCullough : And you'd better give me that pig sticker. Somehow or other I don't trust you.

Col. Vasily : With this, I protect my Countess until I am dead. Only then do I surrender.

Flint McCullough : I'll take it any way you insist, but I'm taking it.

  • Flint McCullough : Colonel, you'll be able to, ah, negotiate here with the Major. These are the only peasants we have on the train.

    [He indicates Bill and Charlie]

Charlie Wooster : Bill, what's peasant?

Bill Hawks : Well, if I remember right, it's about one grade lower than an Indian scout.

  • Countess Baranof : I think you deliberately misled me so that you could make love to me.

Flint McCullough : No, that isn't true. But I'm sorry you said that because it means you let me make love to you to use me for your own purposes.

[And whack, slaps him hard across the face]

  • Flint McCullough : Because I've never been so wrong about a woman in my life.

Countess Baranof : Are you sure?

    Flint McCullough : I wish I weren't. And I wish I didn't care.

Countess Baranof : Don't make me laugh.

Flint McCullough : Why not? You've been a great source of amusement to me. I could have fallen in love with you. How's that for a start. Funny? The first time I kissed you, the thought entered my mind that, with a woman like you, I could be content to stay in one place for the rest of my life. That's the funniest part of all. You really ought to laugh there. I never stopped to think what a ridiculous match it would be.

  • Flint McCullough : I didn't say I wanted to talk to him.

Major Seth Adams : Oh, I see. I wondered why you were moping around here all day with your face as long as an old cow.

Mrs. Foster : Do you really think you can do something about Alex, Mr McCullough?

    Flint McCullough : Maybe, indirectly.

Major Seth Adams : Mrs Foster, if there's anything good I can say about McCullough, it's that he can handle a situation like this better than anybody I know.

Flint McCullough : Thanks, Major, I appreciate the confidence.

  • Major Seth Adams : Listen, I know this Countess has been getting under your skin. I just don't want you to make a fool out of yourself.

Flint McCullough : Not a chance.

Major Seth Adams : Right. Good luck.

Charlie Wooster : You feel all right?

Major Seth Adams : Certainly I feel all right. Why shouldn't I? What'd you do, poison the coffee?

Charlie Wooster : Not yet. But that's the first time ever I saw McCullough leave without you saying: Stay away from the girls, hurry back.

Major Seth Adams : Well, Charlie, I don't think McCullough'd appreciate being yelled at this moment, particularly about women.

Bill Hawks : Think he's stuck on her, huh?

Major Seth Adams : More than that, Bill, I'm afraid our boy has finally met his match.

Bill Hawks : It's gonna be kinda tough on him taking her to jail, isn't it?

Major Seth Adams : Yeah, think so.

    Charlie Wooster : Jail?

    Bill Hawks : Yeah, jail.

  • Countess Baranof : you have done so much already. And I don't know your name.

Flint McCullough : Oh, it's, ah, McCullough, Ma'am, Flint McCullough, Indian Scout and First Class Peasant.

  • Flint McCullough : [Flint and Olga are in a romantic clinch in the woods, and, inbetween kissing and smooching, they talk about why she has to get to Alaska]  You want me to believe that you can buy the United State Senate?

Countess Baranof : Mm, that's the rumour in Washington. And I just came from there.

Flint McCullough : That's a lot of rot.

Countess Baranof : Will you help me get to San Fransisco?

Flint McCullough : You know I will.

Countess Baranof : I knew I could count on you.

  • Col. Vasily : Why don't you say please too?

Flint McCullough : I don't think it would do me any good.

  • Flint McCullough : They sent me to find you to take you back to Canyon City. To jail.

  • Flint McCullough : Yeah, but in the years I've been carrying a gun I found out that something else that's important too.

    Col. Vasily : Yes, what?

Flint McCullough : That a man can shoot a man with his blink in his eye.
