  Kate Sheffield : Revenge? Revenge for what?

  Burt Enders : Revenge against me. 'Cos when I got here, there was nothing but Injuns, his kind, all over. And the red devils would sooner put an arrow through you, your womenfolk, your children as they would to eat or drink. They didn't scare me off. I stood my ground. Those other men, they turned and ran. I fought back, I cleaned this place out. I made it a decent place for people to move in and settle down. That's what he wants to get back at me for. 'Cos I made it a fit place for white folk to live in.

• Eric Camden : I couldn't see them but I could feel them brushing close to my cheek. I turned and ran.

  Kate Sheffield : You mean, you just abandoned him?

  Eric Camden : Yes.

  Burt Enders : I mighta known.

  Kate Sheffield : I misjudged you, Mr Camden. I won't ask you to continue with us.

• Cooper Smith : You wouldn't be scared to go in there, would you?

  Burt Enders : I ain't afraid of anything?

  Cooper Smith : Good, then you'll go with us.

• Isaiah Quickfox : [the Indian returns]  I have come with my people to make our peace with you, Burt Enders.

  Burt Enders : Don't you believe him. Listen. Hear that.

  [Bats] 

  Burt Enders : Hundreds of them, they're all around us.

  Isaiah Quickfox : We are not many and we come in peace. I speak for my people.

  Burt Enders : Don't you believe him. If we hold him, the others will come into the compound... When I give you the signal...

  Isaiah Quickfox : Then you will murder, murder.

  Burt Enders : I had to do it. I had to order it. They were our children, they were our women.

  Isaiah Quickfox : We came to you without weapons. We came in peace.

  Burt Enders : I DIDN"T KNOW THAT!

  Isaiah Quickfox : But when you found out, you had to hide it. You had to silence even our women, our children, to bury forever your secret.
