Ben Gazzara's film 'The Young Doctors (1961)' had recently been released on 23rd August, in New York City. Many of the movie's cast were taken from the New York stage and scenes were shot at the Production Centre, location work at Poughkeepsie and exteriors shot at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Ronald Reagan was the narrator in the film.
This was the first live broadcast after the cast's first "Summer break". Starting in July 1959 and continuing for eight straight years, the show would occasionally record episodes onto quadruplex videotape for playback at a future date. In such instances, there would often be two shows on a Sunday; the "taped" one, followed immediately by the "live" one.
Panelist Arlene Francis, together with her husband Martin Gabel, had spent her summer vacation in Germany filming 'One, Two, Three (1961)'.
