The Pluto file

A scientist develops a method of making earthquakes. Later a German spy steals his work. Steve tries to find out what he is going to do with it. But they also find out he's infected with Plague which he caught in India...

Quite an interesting episode mainly because the humour is toned down a bit, the story is more serious and Wonder Woman shows her compassion as well as brains - there's a villain with a posh British accent- no surprise there. That's so typical in Hollywood!! He acts quite well as does the atomic scientist.

a good effort, finally

Finally the series comes to what it should be, a believable story and good effects, although they are still campy in some ways. But there is an improvement. When wonder woman is doing her thing they added a special sound to the score to warn you that she's doing wonderstuff. It's much better this way.

Not only that, it's been a while that we have seen her plane, that was cheesy as hell. Wonder woman do walks around and jumps over hedges and gates. Fightscene's are also a bit better but what still is laughable is the fact that she uses her lasso to catch the bad people.

The acting here was also up to point. It all looks great and the story is rather believable even as it can't happen in real life.

A lot of fans prefer season 2 and 3 but this here clearly shows that the production team has found what they were looking for.

THE WEAKEST EPISODE OF SEASON 1
asalerno109 May 2022
An international mercenary arrives in Washington with the mission of seizing the Pluto File, a project that a scientist is developing for the study of earthquakes. This episode lacks the suspense and action that the rest of season 1 had. At times it's even boring, if it had had a grand finale it might have gotten away but not even that. A poor ending devoid of emotion. On top of that, Robert Reed is absolutely expressionless in his character, he is not sinister or threatening like other villains. We also don't see Wonder Woman perform any surprising act. The weakest episode of season 1.

The Pluto File

Warning: Spoilers
The Pluto File Interesting title, Pluto the Roman god of the underworld and also giving it's name to the 9th planet and one of the radioactive elements on which nuclear energy and weapons is based. Also a genuine WW2 term for a system used to supply oil for the D-day landings (Pipe Line Under The Ocean). The Falcon, an Irishman acting as an agent for the Germans is also historically accurate, Irish nationalism/republicanism not only supporting the Axis in WW2 but sheltering Nazi war criminals in the Irish Free State afterwards. This ep features the Manhattan Project (the US Atomic Bomb programme) and the ability to cause earthquakes which recur in a later ep as will biological warfare, all big concerns in the 1970s. We also see Diana demonstrate her brains as well as her beauty, impressing the atomic scientist. 5/10 not bad, improvement on the last few eps

So bad it is funny

Where to begin?

Wonder Woman began running again on a network where I live several weeks ago. I have not seen this show since it originally aired. So, like many shows on this channel, I watch them for the nostalgia. I do not expect them to hold up fully by today's standards.

Regarding this specific episode, the bar is clearly lowered. I guess I should no longer be surprised by the ratings shows receive on IMDB, since so many people clearly vote with their heart.

Robert Reed was obviously brought on to bring in viewers loyal to Brady Bunch and his accent has to be the worst I have heard in the thousands and thousands of shows and movies I have seen. Sometimes he sounded British, then German, then like no accent I had ever heard.

Linda and Lyle are spot on, their acting well done despite the writing.

The action was as laughable as Reed's gentleman-Nazi. Reed choking out the scientist in a total of two seconds. The bad guys climbing a fence into a Top Secret area and magically appearing on the roof. When I watch shows like this, I wonder what causes them to be so bad and I suppose it has to fall on the director. I am sure budgets and script affect a lot, but the performances and 'convenient' scenes to progress the plot are the directors fault. Compared to the opening episodes of Season 1, this seems a step back.

Watch this for some laughs, or for nostalgia. I understand that we all have different tastes, but I cannot fathom how this averages a rating over 7

Pretty good episode.

I really like the first season. It was nice to see the 40s depicted fairly well. The story was good overall. My gripe, sorry. Robert Reed. I have watched him in various roles. I was never impressed. Sorry. He is ok here but that is all.
