Duel at the Oaks
Prismark109 May 2023
Yancy Derringer takes part in a duel with Charles LeBow while John Colton races across to stop it.

Too late LeBow is dead and the City Administrator takes Yancy is for questioning. Eventually Yancy admits it was all a ploy.

LeBow is an old friend of Yancy and while playing cards the night before. LeBow asked for his help as an assassin in on LeBow's tale.

They cooked up a scheme about the duel and if LeBow is dead then no one will look for him.

Colton is doubtful about the story. He digs up what should be LeBow's empty coffin, only to find a dead body of another man.

He is LeBow's business partner and it seems Yancy has been played by an old friend. Yancy now has to find him.

For a card sharp sometimes Yancy does not work out all the angles. Still it is a reasonably good story that only works because Colton thinks Yancy's tale is too fantastical.
