A classic enjoyable western.

Lawyer Jud Lester (Lew Ayres) arrives in his new town and it just so happens that a robbery is taking place. Some of the townsfolk are taking up arms against the robbers in a town that is most times lawless. During the shooting, one of the robbers, Ben Mansen, gets wounded and is taking shelter in Jud's new office. When Jud comes in the door, Ben is passing out and fires a shot. Thanks to the newspaper writer, named King, people now believe that the new lawyer has shot one of the robbers. Jud lets people believe the lie. He is like the hero of the town.

During a quick court hearing, Ben is set to hang the next morning and the town is expecting trouble from Ben's brother. But the men now have courage to face criminals. But when the news gets out that Jud really did not shoot Ben, all of the sudden the men return to cowards. With trouble coming on horseback, it looks like the town needs a real hero.

This is a nice western story. It has all the classic expectations one wants in a show in the western style of production. What you have is a town that is finally showing signs of a backbone. An enjoyable episode that was entertaining from beginning to end. Good watch.
