Paul Douglas was the guest star in this Zane Grey Theater episode who is the town blacksmith and is the newly elected sheriff. Before the noon hour when he takes office Peter Breck happens to save Douglas's son Rickey Murray's life by knocking him out of the line of fire when another man is shooting. Shooting at Breck.
Later on Douglas finds that Breck is a wanted man and it troubles him that his first act as sheriff will be to apprehend or maybe kill Breck if he resists. The wanted poster does say dead or alive.
You have to give producer Dick Powell credit for getting a lot of big movie names to star in both Zane Grey Theater and Four Star Playhouse stories. Douglas does a fine job as the every man citizen/sheriff who does his duty.
