A Tense Us Vs. Him Situation
ccthemovieman-125 January 2010
This was a tense episode most of the way as our two leading guest actors - Ida Lupino and James Whitmore - are trapped in a log cabin with an assassin outside trying to kill them. How do they fend this guy off? At first, it's just "Louise Brandon" (Ida) that's in trouble as a hired killer is sent to make sure she gives up her land and property after she is accused of cattle rustling, which isn't true. They killed her husband and now they want her, or her property which she isn't about to surrender.

She winds up on the run, literally, and ends up in Whitaker's house (cabin). While he's not thrilled at getting inadvertently involved in this violent predicament, he winds up helping her.

As with actors of that quality, they make the story a good one.

Fearful Courage
Prismark1013 May 2023
An episode that shows how wild was the west. Money and property would be at the root of it.

Louise Brandon (Ida Lupino) is a farmer who is getting driven of her land. Wrongfully accused of rustling cattle. Her husband has been shot dead.

Refusing to leave her land. An assassin (Michael Pate) has been sent to kill her as well. It is too late to make a deal with the gunman.

Something Jeb (James Whitmore) finds out. He is unwittingly brought into the fight as Louise runs into his cabin.

Now both figure they need to fight off the gunman.

Host Dick Powell explains how simple land ownership was in the old days. It was more to do with who could shoot first, who had more and better guns.. Just ask the native Indians.

The story is humdrum but great actors.
