In a press conference before the final match of the season and with Wirral County bottom of the table, Mike Bassett is asked about the pressure of going into the game needing a win to avoid relegation. He responds by saying they don't need a win because other results could go their way. One permutation Bassett uses is that they don't need to win if York City are beaten by ten goals. However, later on, a short clip of Sky Sports News and Jeff Stelling with the bottom half of the table is shown on screen. It shows that York City have 44 points, three more than Wirral County, and therefore for Wirral to finish above York a win would be required.
Mike says that the region gave the world two Doctor Who's - Tom Baker and Colin Baker. In fact, the two Doctors from the region were Tom Baker and Paul McGann.
