Dylan Walsh and Jami Gertz have been tapped to star in the Lifetime original movie Christmas Miracle.
The tentatively titled movie, inspired by a true story, centers on the life-or-death ordeal of an estranged Idaho couple who accidentally get trapped in a blizzard during a snowmobiling trip gone wrong just before Christmas. Principal photography is under way in Calgary, Alberta, for a targeted December premiere.
"This is a story about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances who prove that keeping the faith really can make miracles happen," said Libby Beers, vp original movies at Lifetime. "The popular Jami Gertz and Dylan Walsh are perfectly cast as a couple who must put aside their differences in order to stay alive."
Miracle is produced by Nomadic Pictures. Chad Oakes (AMC's Broken Trail), Mike Frislev (Lifetime's The Mermaid Chair) and Greg Goodell (CBS' Down Will Come Baby) are producers. Goodell also wrote and will direct the movie.
Walsh is best known for his role as Dr. Sean McNamara on FX's "Nip/Tuck." He also recently appeared in the feature film The Lake House and just wrapped One Part Sugar opposite Danny DeVito.
