I gotta get back to New York and shovel the snow off my sidewalk
kapelusznik1812 April 2015
****SPOILERS*** Mike Hammer gets an urgent long distance phone call from far off Hawaii from the wife of an old army buddy of his Shep-of "Shep and the Limelighters"-Mrs. Anna Hagerty who says that he's been missing for the last three days. It seems like that import-export business man Shep Hargerty , who's talk sounds a lot like Elliot Ness in the TV series "The Untouchables", has been swallowed up, just a joke, by some volcanic lava flow and has never been seen since. Hammer taking the first fight from NYC to Hawaii, with a pit stop at San Francisco, makes it there in no time at all meeting the very concerned Anna at an Hawaiian bar to get down to business to where her husband, if he's still alive, is.

As it later turned out Shep was the victim of a robbery at his office as he was dealing with Kate Texton and her Hawaiian gold smuggler friend Mr. Eng when this pair of masked robbers broke in and blew Shep away. Hammer at first smelling a rat in all this feels that the robbery was an inside job either with Kate or Eng being involved in it. Even more confusing is that the body of Shep was never found making his murder a bit suspicious to say the least.

***SPOILERS*** As things later turned out Hammer as usual was right on target in the late Shep Hagrety not so unexpectedly coming back from the dead to get his hands on the stolen cash that his partner, the masked robber, Lasson have left in their hast to get away from the scene! In what can only be called a bloodbath in paradise that all lead to a deadly shootout between Hammer Hagerty & Lasson and one of his Hawaiian goons with Hammer getting shot in the arm as the only survivor. With his job done Hammer bids good-by to the late Hargerty's old land Anne, who didn't seem to miss her husband at all, as he's on his way back to snowy NYC to buy himself a juicy kosher corn-beef & pastrami sandwich, and don't forget the pickle, with a side order of coleslaw. And then go shovel the snow off his his street and go pick up, bills not welcomed, his late mail!
