When Geraldine mentions the possibility of the village video club showing romantic films, Hugo isn't seen putting any money in the Lent box to cover his resolution to give up sexual thoughts, and given how easily he seemed to have them just by being around Alice, it seems out of character for him to not do so on hearing such films mentioned.
