Every now and then I have difficulty with these write-ups. Sometimes it’s because I’ve got such an awful film on hand that it’s hard to remain professional while reviewing the picture. Sometimes it’s because a film is so powerful, that I, as a writer fear providing the film an injustice by writing an article less than perfect. For the latter reason, Rough Cut has provided me with an intimidating challenge; how can I possibly put into words how moving this film is? The only answer I have is to be completely honest, and hope these words act as friend tonight, rather than foe.
In January of 2003, young newlywed Randi Trimble was fatally attacked in the garage of her home. Strangled, and stabbed 27 times, she died reciting one final prayer. As in many cases of similar fashion, Randi’s husband Brian Trimble was an immediate person of interest.

On November 1st I received a phone call from a friend- "Have you heard the news about Mark Twitchell?" he asked. The name rang a bell, but at first I didn't know why. "Twitchell? Why do I know that name?" I said. He replied, "He's the director of Secrets Of The Rebellion."
For the purpose of this blog, and to keep negative attention away from my friend, I'm keeping his name out of this. You see, Mark Twitchell was charged with murder in a now infamous case of life imitating art.
Last year, my friend worked on Sotr, a fan film set in the world of George Lucas' Star Wars. This was to be one of those "high-end" fan films. It had a budget of around $60,000 , featuring a huge cast and crew, elaborate special FX, sets, the works. Twitchell, the director, was said to be using it as a "calling card" piece,...
