Quotes

  • [when the plant is bought by super-efficient Germans, Homer becomes terrified that he will be fired]

Horst : Homer, could we have a word with you?

    Homer : [Nervous]  No.

Horst : I must have phrased that badly. My English is, how you say, inelegant. I meant to say, may we have a brief, friendly chat?

    Homer : Noooo!

Horst : Once again I have failed.

Horst : [Opens "German to English" dictionary]

Horst : We request the pleasure of your company for a free exchange of ideas.

    Homer : NOOOOO!

    Homer : [Runs away screaming]

  • [Rumors of a buyout at the power plant sends the employee's token stock offerings skyrocketing in value. Homer comes home]

Homer : Sorry, Marge. I already spent it.

    Marge Simpson : On what?

    Homer : Beer.

    Selma Bouvier : Surprise, surprise.

Marge Simpson : You spent $5,200 on beer?

Homer : $5,200? What are you talking about?

    [Marge points to the TV]

    Homer : What?

[He crouches in front of the TV, seeing the closing price of the stock he sold, and screams]

Homer : I sold it all for 25 bucks!

[Bart kicks him in the butt, knocking his head into the TV]

    Homer : OW!

Bart Simpson : Come on, everyone, it makes you feel better!

  • Moe Szyslak : Moe's Tavern. Moe speaking.

Bart Simpson : Uh, yes, I'm looking for a Mrs. O'Problem. First name Bea.

Moe Szyslak : Uh, yeah, just a minute. I'll check. Uh, Bea O'Problem? Bea O'Problem? Come on, guys, do I have a Bea O'Problem here?

Barney Gumble : You sure do!

  • Horst : [the new owners of the power plant have not yet decided whether to keep Homer on]  You've been safety inspector for two years. What initiatives have you spearheaded in that time?

Homer : Uh... all of them.

Horst : [Horst and Hans glance at one another]  I... see. Then you must have some good ideas for the future as well?

    Homer : I sure do.

Hans : [after Homer fails to elaborate]  Such as?

Homer : Well er... well, I wish the candy machine wasn't so picky about taking beat-up dollar bills.

[Hans and Horst exchange another look, this time Homer picks up on it and can't help but squirm under their glare]

Homer : Because... a lot of workers really like candy.

Horst : We understand Homer. After all, we are from the land of chocolate.

Homer : Mmmmm... the land of chocolate.

[Homer starts daydreaming about living in a world of chocolate until Hans' voice jolts him out of it]

Hans : Mr Simpson? Mr Simpson?

Homer : Oh, I'm sorry. We were talking about chocolate.

Horst : [irritably]  That was ten minutes ago!
