Many episodes begin with a murder after an argument, usually an old mean guy with a young vulnerable strong-silent-type; the old guy dies and there's only one person who it can be... Of course it never ends up that way since DAN AUGUST is mainly in the Mystery genre over Action, and herein that's despite having to do with race car drivers, in particular Christopher Connelly who got fired in the cold open and Burt Reynolds' August has to go around town finding out things... including questioning hot young dame Barbara Press and older Geraldine Books, who has some chemistry with the as-usual robotic Burt... questions which aren't all that clear and there's very little urgency overall: CIRCLE OF LIES (with a great pulpy title) is one of those episodes that LIES in-between good and filler.
