fabulous music; OK movie

Warning: Spoilers
I found the movie to be a 6, but the music to be a 10. Still, this is a movie review site, not a music review, so I've settled for an overall 7. Still, if you like heavy rockin' music with a lead singer who sounds kinda like an angry Faye Wong, you should check this out.

Anyone know where I can buy their CD?

Anyway, the movie is about a rock trio who come together by chance and find that they really click until one of the guys in the band (minor spoiler alert) decides to act on his attraction for the female lead singer. She has feelings for him too, but she recognizes that having a relationship could compromise their creative partnership, but - of course - they can't just pretend nothing happened, and so the partnership in compromised anyway. There's also a subplot about her being born out of wedlock, which appears to be a big deal in certain Indonesian circles.

Chaotic movie as commercial for indie band
hansbearnl22 May 2006
Well, I know, Indonesians like music, and they prefer you to hear it from miles away. So, when I knew that I was going to watch a movie about a band I was ready for noise. That I thought, but I was still unprepared for the terrible music in the movie, the chaotic acting, and the lack of a good story.

The only moment in the movie that I enjoyed a little bit was when they performed with a traditional gamelan orchestra. The combination of rock and traditional music was a nice surprise.

In general though, if you don't really have to watch this movie, then don't. If you do like indie/rock music, forget about the movie and buy the soundtrack.
