Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** Mindless home invasion thriller that seems to run out of steam and storyline just when its supposed to tie all the loose ends together at the very end.

We have these two rich and fun loving couples Cameron & Maria and their best friends Parker & Jonie planning to spend a quite weekend at Cameron's fathers mansion on the out of the way Caribbean island St. Carlos. It's then that both a category 4 hurricane and a trio of murderous home invaders lead by the grizzly looking Val and his two accomplices Angel and Ria independently crash the place. Val & Co. are looking for a hidden safe in the mansion that contains, are you ready for this, 10 million dollars in hard cold cash. With none of those at the mansion not knowing a thing about the hidden treasure, or safe, Val starts to lose it threatening to murder them all if they don't reveal to him where the safe is!

To make their point clear Val's fellow home invader Angel shoots and kills the mansion houseboy Alfonso when he later shows up to see if things are all right at the place. Alfonso who smelled a rat, in Val and Co. being at the place, was about to get back to town and get in touch with the local police. It's when Alfonso decided to be a hero by coming back to the mansion with a tire-iron to take on the trio that he ended up getting himself killed, by Angel, for it!

With a dead body, Alfonso, to dispose of and now a major hurricane bearing down on the island of St. Carlos where their at Val and his team have to find the hidden safe with the ten million smackers before the local police, contacted by Alfonso before he was whacked, headed by inspector Raddimus show up at the mansion!

***SPOILERS*** It then that we start to get the picture in what all this mindlessness craziness is all about on Val's part, It's Val who, unknown to almost everyone in the films cast, who has a secret secret plan in him getting the 10 million that is really not in the mansion's safe, which turns out to be empty! This all has to do with the life of one the people at the mansion who'll be worth millions if he doesn't come out alive by the time the movie ends!

Despite its very complicated plot the movie just doesn't quite hold your attention. That's because its so ridicules in what its trying to bring out about what Val is really up to that when it finally hits you, if your still around to watch it, it seems as if everyone in the movie, home invaders and hostages, seemed to have completely lost interest in it! The ending really flips you out in that it seems to go to two different places at the same time: The reality of the moment and at the same time an off the wall dream like "Twilight Zone" surprise ending.

The most surprising thing about the movie at all is that it has in it Carlos Pounce as the islands top police official Inspector Raddimus. Raddimus also has something to do with the movies surprise or dream-like ending which like everything else in it makes no sense at all! Raddimus, or Carlos Ponce, was so good in the film "Break-in" that he was immediately brought back into another St. Carlos based crime thriller "Vanished" just a month after the made for TV movie "Break-In" was broadcast on Lifetime TV!

The far house
jotix10027 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Not having a clue as to what this film was about, we decided to take a chance on it. It has all the makings of being a movie made for TV. No wonder, we found out it was made for Lifetime! The version we watched came on another cable channel and shows the spaces where the commercials should have been inserted.

As a thriller, "Break-In", doesn't quite make it. Anyone with any experience in these types of films know there is something wrong with Maria, a newlywed on her honeymoon to a Caribbean island that shows a rough edge to herself when she lures her husband into the lavatory for a quickie! The bride is surprised when her new sister-in-law and her yuppie husband arrive to spend the last day with them in the beautiful house on the mountain. Little do they know three bandits want to rob the house. In the process they keep them prisoners trying to have Maria and Cameron to reveal where the safe is located to steal the 10 million in it.

"Break-In", directed by Michael Nankin, with a screen play by Matt Dorff is somewhat entertaining. Serious fans will probably figure out what will happen.

Average with a horrible ending...
PhantomAgony8 February 2010
This is your average Thriller - 4/10 with me needing to take a point off for the horrendous ending that will have you scratching your head as to what actually happened. There is clearly a decided ending to this movie so it's NOT supposed to be ambiguous. The writer took the time to create an outcome to a Cliffhanger like moment at the very end. The only problem is that the storyboard would have taken maybe 5 minutes of film and apparently, was only given about 30 seconds so rather than tell the end of the story and the outcome so that people can follow, you get quick random flashes of what I am guessing the outcome is chopped up only these flashes are intertwined with the present cliffhanger scenes so you can't seem to figure out if the person is dreaming or if the person died and this was what he/she was thinking about or if the scenes are from the future and really did happen, etc.. It's just a mess and it leaves you feeling unsatisfied and a little annoyed that the movie waited so long for the big TWIST and then subsequent Action after the twist to occur since clearly they ran out of time or something - just inexcusable.

Now, the actual movie... It's about a couple, Marla and Parker (Carlson and Babcock) enjoying their honeymoon on a remote island who, to Marla's surprise are joined by Parker's sister Ria and her husband Cameron who Parker has invited. Things get crazy when a group of villains (Val, Angel and Joani) break in and the core 4's lives are in danger. A category 3 storm is coming forcing the villains to take shelter and hold the group hostage. The rest of the movie takes place inside the home with the dynamic between the villains and the victims with elements thrown in to keep the suspense high like an attempted poisoning and the lights going out allowing the victims to attempt to get away and hide.

Of course there is a TWIST at the end followed by the horribly executed ending. The movie wasn't bad, although the ending sure was, BUT even with a good ending I'd just give it a 5/10 - maybe 6 b/c it wasn't anything great.

Incredible beauties, tension, drama and surprise
drbill-114 August 2006
This one has it all. The three women capture the eye of every male viewer. The villains are believable, more so than usual. The action is constant, with everything unpredictable. Watching this movie, you can hate, have sympathy, experience fear, and admire the cast for pulling you in so completely.

All of us who have visited Caribbean islands have wondered, "Gee, what could go wrong here?" This film takes your imagination to the extremes. After viewing this, you may choose to spend your next vacation in Des Moines or Salt Lake City.

Kelly Carlson captures and keeps attention, not only for her seductive ways but also for her ability to change emotions rapidly when that's needed.

Lifetime has scored big-time with Break-in.

Great ensemble movie
guilfisher-19 November 2008
One of the best LMN movies I've seen in a long time. All about a honeymoon couple vacationing on a remote island with unexpected happenings along the way. First they are interrupted by the groom's sister and husband, best man and maid of honor at their wedding, then by 3 sinister invaders after more than money.

The reactions and moments were well played between the seven principals it is hard to pick out one over the other. They all were that good. Kelly Carlson and Eric Winter were the honeymooners; Tessie Santiago and I think Marc Kudisch were the other couple. Todd Babcock was excellent as the villain invader with Xavier Torres and Mercedes Renard as his accomplices. It had you guessing and then a surprise ending in the final scene that I won't reveal. However I really didn't get the ending at all. Can somebody enlighten me as to what exactly happened? What was real and what wasn't?

But see this and enjoy the suspense.

Warning: Spoilers
Very good movie. The actors & acting & story were successful. But the suspense builds up to an unfortunate ending leaving me frustrated & guessing.
