- An unseen intruder sneaks into a woman's home (via a secret set of house keys) and closes the exhaust flue of the burning fireplace to try and kill the woman sleeping there through smoke inhalation.
- Someone tries to hit a woman with a car, only narrowly missing her.
- The incompetent police refuse to take any of the mounting deaths seriously, including the near-death experience the woman had in her smoke-filled house...
- ...This is due to them being ruled either a suicide (by gunshot) or tragic accidents (an accidental fall, a car accident, a house fire, and a gas leak). Despite the connection that all of the deaths have occurred within the past 8 months and that everyone's part of the same friend group.
- A flashback shows a teenage girl amid an argument with some unseen person accidentally fall from a steep ledge... to her death.
