This is a special feature included on the DVD for "The Informer"--a film John Ford made for RKO and which was released in 1936. Victor McLaglen received the Oscar for best actor for this film.
"The Informer: Out of the Fog" is an exceptionally short special feature. It's only about 10 minutes long--and that's my biggest complaint about the featurette. Fortunately, it IS a good short despite this because it manages to draw attention and discuss the best part of the film--the great use of cheap sets and a minimal budget. Learning about Ford's cost-cutting measures was pretty interesting and it really made me appreciate his direction--even though I was NOT a huge fan of the original movie, as McLaglen's winning performance, when seen to day, seems VERY overwrought and a bit silly at times.
