Since everyone loves Nazi Zombies as much as I do, I am thrilled to talk about two upcoming Nazi Zombie movies that look more than promising. Exciting is an understatement, even.
Today, Dark Sky Films released the first two official stills from Dutch director Richard Raaphorst’s Nazi Zombie horror film Frankenstein's Army.
This is someone called “Propellerhead”, described officially as "a hulking Nazi automaton that uses its spinning rotors to slice a bloody swath through the film’s terrified, lost Russian battalion."
And this is Doctor Frankenstein, as played by Karel Roden, dissecting someone unwilling to be dissected.
Like any good Nazi Zombie movie, Frankenstein's Army is set at the tail-end of World War II, when Russian soldiers accidentally find a secret Nazi laboratory as they enter Germany's eastern end. Apparently, the journals of Dr. Viktor Frankenstein are serving as the basis for human experimentation to form a -...

Sofia
Stars: Christian Slater, Elika Portnoy, Timothy Spall, Donald Sutherland | Written by Nancy L. Babine, Hans Feuersinger, Elika Portnoy | Directed by Isaac Florentine
I had high hopes for Sofia, I really did. After all the film, which is also know as Assassin’s Bullet in some territories, comes from director Isaac Florentine whose last four movies – Undisputed II, The Shepherd, Ninja and Undisputed III - were slices of B-movie genius, harkening back to the 90s heyday of Dtv action flicks. However Undisputed III was filmed over two years ago and it seems in the two years that have followed Florentine may have lost some of his action-movie mojo…
Set in Sofia, Bulgaria – which also (obviously) provides the name of this action thriller – the film tells the tale of Vicki Denev (Portnoy) and her alter egos: a killer, a schoolteacher and a seductress. Agent Robert Diggs (Slater) is an ex FBI...

Jean-Claude Van Damme is said currently resting at his home in Belgium after being admitted to a hospital in New Orleans for a minor heart attack. According to email from Van Damme's reps to MTV, the "The Shepherd: Border Patrol" actor "is okay."
Van Damme's brief hospitalization was first reported by Twitch Film. According to the site, Van Damme suffered a heart attack on the set of his latest movie "Weapon" only a day after celebrating his 50th birthday, on Monday, October 18.
"Weapon" 's New Orleans filming, which followed Romanian production last week, was stalled due to unexplained "complications". And the complication reportedly involved Van Damme suffering a minor heart attack before he shot any of his scenes.
When Van Damme was hospitalized in New Orleans, he was accompanied by his wife and mother of two of his children, Gladys Portugues. After briefly staying at the medical center,...

Scott Adkins a badass. The kickboxer can fight like hell, and he has done so in a lot of movies, from direct-to-video gems like “Undisputed II” and “Undisputed III”, to big screen hits like “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “The Bourne Supremacy”. It is now confirmed that he will reteam with Jean-Claude Van Damme for the upcoming Jcvd vehicle “Weapon”, about a pair of rival assassins forced to form an uneasy alliance. The two originally appeared together in 2008, when Adkins played Van Damme’s nemesis in “The Shepherd: Border Patrol”. Set to start shooting in Romania next month, the picture is being produced by Sony Home Entertainment, which means that it will go straight to the home market. That doesn’t automatically count against it, since a lot of my favorite recent action movies popped up in the Dtv realm. Vinnie Jones is also cast, and Ernie Barbarash (“Cube Zero” and “Stir of Echoes”) will direct.

Maggie Grace has signed on to join His Rockness Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton in Faster, with Salma Hayek in talks to join her. There's no road on either's role yet, but we're going to go ahead and cynically predict that Hayek is Johnson's love interest and Grace is Thornton's daughter. The story sees El Rockerino play an ex-con out to avenge his brother's murder. He's trailed by a "veteran policeman" (Thornton, right?), who's presumably concerned with keeping him on the right side of the law but who will also presumably end up helping with the whole vengeance thing.By our estimates, the addition of both Grace and Hayek will make the film 67% better looking, with Hayek alone upping the boobies! factor by 89% (The Rock has impressive man-pecs, making up the other 11%).George Tillman Jr. (Notorious, Men Of Honor) is directing, from a script by Joe and Tony Gayton...

Kate Humble's episode of Who Do You Think You Are? pulled in 4.62m (19.5%) for BBC One on Wednesday night, according to the latest figures. The 9pm show, which saw the BBC presenter trace her family background via her paternal grandfather, logged the lowest ratings of the series so far. Previously, Davina McCall's appearance drew 6.43m (26.6%), while last week's episode - featuring Chris Moyles - put in 4.71m (20.2%). Also during the 9pm hour, BBC Two's Dragons' Den had 3.08m (13%), Big Brother grabbed 1.86m (7.9%) for Channel 4, and 1.26m (6%) tuned in for Jean-Claude Van Damme thriller The Shepherd on Five between 9pm and 11pm. Earlier, at 8pm, Home For Life attracted (more)...

His Rockness, Dwayne Johnson, has been lavishing his talents on kiddie and family-friendly fare of late, but he's finally taking a break from kicking it PG-rated, with the news that he's in final talks to star in Faster, an edgier action drama. The plot sees El Rockerino play an ex-con who is bent on avenging the death of his brother, who died ten years before after the two were double-crossed during a heist. If we were betting persons here, we'd guess the same double-cross left the Dwaynemeister in prison for the interim, and it's only now on his release that he's seeking payback.Filming's due to begin in August, with Phil Joanou (who worked with the Johnsonator on Gridiron Gang) directing and a script by Joe and Tony Gayton (who wrote The Shepherd: Border Patrol and Murder By Numbers respectively). Let's hope that the film allows The Rock to open...

When Todd pose the question “Will The Next Great Screen Fighter Please Stand Up?” for his Twitch-O-Meter column, the guy that immediately pops into my mind is British actor Scott Adkins. For those not in the know, Scott is an awesome martial artist as well as a capable actor who made a name for himself in the direct-to-DVD market. He has traded punches with Jackie Chan and Jet Li before in bit parts but he’s slowing climbing up the ranks in Hollywood with a sizable role in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Among his other projects is Ninja where Scott gets a crack at his first major lead role and I wouldn’t be surprise if this is his breakthrough to action stardom. Ninja is directed by Isaac Florentine, who has work with Scott before in Special Forces, Undisputed 2 and most recently, The Shepherd: Border Patrol with Jean-Claude Van Damme.
