The BBC has acquired U.K. free-to-air rights of high profile crime drama “Tokyo Vice” (8 x 60’), which has a pilot episode directed by Michael Mann, from Endeavor Content. The BBC has second window rights for the U.K. and will air it later this year. The series will stream in the U.K. on Starzplay from May 15. Endeavor has sold the series, currently streaming on HBO Max in the U.S., wide.
Co-produced by HBO Max, Endeavor and Japanese broadcaster Wowow, the series is based on American journalist Jake Adelstein’s non-fiction first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat. The series, filmed on location in Tokyo, captures Adelstein’s (Ansel Elgort) daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem. “Tokyo Vice” was created and written by Tony-winning playwright J.T. Justice League 24 continues the company-wide cross-over “Forever Evil” by aiming its focus on showcasing the backward origin of Ultraman.
After conquering their own world (Earth 3), Ultraman and his Crime Syndicate cohorts arrive on the main DC Universe Earth, and immediately target the world’s heroes.
But, first this issue, “Forever Strong” begins by rocketing us back to a time (25 years ago) and to a galaxy (another universe) far, far away, with the demise of planet Krypton. But, as is the case with everything from parallel comic worlds, everything that appears the same on the surface becomes jarringly different as one looks closer. Panic and greed has consumed Kryptonian inhabitants in their final moments, perhaps there all along in this alternate dark version, as they trample and claw their way to any available rocket to escape. Unfortunately for them, their attempts to flee all pose a potential risk to baby Kal,...

Over the past year we have been inundated with everything Need for Speed: The Run. From trailers directed by Michael Bay to press releases about branded trainers and Sports Illustrated models and with other developers such as Polyphony Digital (Gran Turismo) and Turn 10 Studios (Forza) releasing some of the most notable and popular racing games in the world, EA Black Box was undoubtedly attempting to stand out and provide something new and unique. While we were initially excited about the brand new concept and new ideas being flung at us, did the game truly live up to the hype?
For the first time, the annual EA racing series has brought something different to the table – a solid concept. The game focuses on main character Jackson “Jack” Rourke who is on the run from mobsters for reasons that aren’t 100% detailed or explained to you. In an attempt to pay his way out of his debt,...

I first stumbled upon this trailer for Age of the Dragons on YouTube over a week ago but failed to write anything up about it because I noticed it was uploaded over two months ago and assumed we had already reported on it. That should give you an idea of just how under the radar this Moby Dick with dragons flick starring Danny Glover has been.
When we last reported on Age of the Dragons back in March, the title was Dragon Fire and next to nothing was known about it other than it being a $5 million take on Moby Dick shooting in Utah under the direction of Ryan Little (Forever Strong, House of Fears). Substituting a great white dragon for the infamous whale of Herman Melville's classic tale, a scarfaced Danny Glover stars as the obsessed Ahab, Vinnie Jones co-stars as Stubbs and call Corey Sevier (Decoys 2, House of Fears) Ishmael.

Taraji Henson
Actress Taraji P. Henson has signed on to star in the film “From the Rough,” which is inspired by the real life story of Dr. Catana Starks. Starks was the first female to ever coach a men’s team sport in Ncaa Division 1 athletics.
Henson will play the lead role of Cassandra Turner, a fictional version of Starks, who starts her career as the coach of a women’s swim team at a historically black college. Turner is eventually given the opportunity to coach the school’s men’s golf team. She is forced to look throughout Europe, Australia, and Asia for players given the scarce number of black players at the college. Her efforts result in a multi-racial team that is very unique to the school. In real life, Starks was the head coach of Tennessee State University’s men’s golf team.

He's killed a Predator, been murdered by Jigsaw, and spent considerable time being too old for this shit with Mel Gibson; now Danny Glover is taking on the Captain Ahab role and hunting a great white dragon in Dragon Fire, a fantasy reworking of the classic tale of Moby Dick.
The $5 million Herman Melville-inspired dragon flick shooting on location in Utah is being directed by Ryan Little (Forever Strong, House of Fears). As if dragons weren't ferocious enough, Vinnie Jones co-stars as Stubbs. Call Corey Sevier (Decoys 2, House of Fears) Ishmael. A possible limited theatrical release could be in the works for the fall.
Not much else about Dragon Fire out there at this time. In the meantime here's a YouTube video of a local Utah news station's set report complete with a look at crazy-eyed Glover and a rubbery dragon.

Danny Glover and Vinnie Jones have signed on to star in Ryan Little's new fantasy thriller Dragon Fire, which marks distribution team Metrodome's first stab at production a film themselves. This one has sort of snuck in under the radar, and little is known about the movie yet. It's apparently based on Moby Dick, so we're going to guess it's a tale of obsession and huge, dangerous creatures. Aside from Vinnie, that is...Little, who last made rugby drama Forever Strong, kicks off directing the new film this week in Utah. More on this on as we dig it up.

Name a movie about baseball. Easy, you say, as you name 10 off the top of your head: Field of Dreams, The Sandlot, Eight Men Out, Major League, etc., etc., etc. Ok, how about football? No problem, and off you go with Rudy, Brian’s Song, Friday Night Lights, etc. Hockey? Miracle. Basketball? Coach Carter. Golf? The Legend of Bagger Vance. Rugby? Suddenly what had been incessant chatter is broken with a slice of silence. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. You can’t think of a single one (well, ok. The recently released and potentially Oscar-worthy Invictus may have come to mind). Maybe you even thought rugby was Gumby’s sidekick or something. I was right there with you. And then I came upon Forever Strong, which is based on a true story. And you know what, it’s not really about rugby either. Confused? Let me explain.

There’ll be a nice assortment of new films for you to own at the store today. For something exciting you can pick up “Killshot” with Diane Lane, Thomas Jane Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Mickey Rourke. It’s an action thriller about a husband and wife put in the Witness Protection Program after seeing something they wished they hadn’t. Unfortunately, the couple is going to need a lot more than some federal agents to protect them from the two mafia hitman who really don’t like to leave loose ends. For something on the lighter side you can buy “New In Town.” This one features Renee Zellweger as Lucy Hill, a business executive forced to relocate from Miami to a tiny town in Minnesota.
There’s also the debut of “Powder Blue,” the straight-to-dvd drama starring Jessica Biel, Eddie Redmayne, Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta, Kris Kristofferson, Alejandro Romero and Patrick Swayze.

Instead of spending my money to bail out the fat cats who got what they deserved, Congress should be drafting a bill banning sports movies.
Immediate action is needed to spare the American people from ever again being subjected to something as annoying as "Forever Strong."

Although Gary Cole had a big shoot-'em-up summer playing a drug lord in Pineapple Express, you probably still know him best as Lumbergh, the droning, officious boss in Office Space.
His latest movie, Forever Strong, puts him in a more dramatic light. Cole plays real-life rugby coach Larry Gelwix, whose unconventional training and character building methods have proven successful for his Highland Rugby team for years.
We asked Cole whaaaat's happening (couldn't resist), and he gave us the scoop on his heartthrob male co-stars, his take on Office Space vs. Pineapple Express and his rivalry with Gary Coleman.

Here's something you probably didn't know: Over the past six years, 37-year-old director Ryan Little has helmed six feature films. He's made a musical, a war movie, a Western, a horror film, and a romantic comedy; for his sixth film, he tackles an uplifting sports melodrama. In Forever Strong, Sean Faris plays the gifted but troubled son of hard-ass Arizona rugby coach Neal McDonough. When Faris gets busted for his second DUI, he's sent to a group home, where he meets Sean Astin, who speaks wistfully about inspiring, innovative rugby coach Gary Cole, a man who cares more about life lessons than wins. Reluctantly, Faris gets on board, and thrives under Cole's tutelage to such a degree that he eventually leads his new team to face his father's team in the state championship. Forever Strong isn't terrible, and Little has some talent as a director. Though the story is...
