Lagardere Studios Distribution has boarded “Commandos,” a Dutch high-voltage war drama series directed by Ivan Lopez Nunez and Hanro Smitsman.
Based on an idea by Oscar Van Woensel and Boudewijn Rosenmuller, the series follows John, an old Commando who led Dutch Special Forces on a covert mission to Northern Nigeria where they had to rescue an important hostage kidnapped by Boko Haram. The mission turned into a nightmare and many people, including civilians, were killed.
Three years later, John, who is still haunted by the tragedy, is in charge of protecting a Nigerian Minister visiting the Netherlands as a guest of honor. As he gets confronted with the murderer who tried to eliminate his former comrades in Nigeria, John has to fight, potentially compromising himself, his family and friends.
“Commandos” was written by Oscar Van Woensel, Mischa Alexander, Jochum Ten Have, Michiel Van Jaarsveld, Willem Bosch, Vincent Van Helm, Bastiaan Kroeger and Pollo de Pimentel.

Documentaries and dramas impressed industry professionals at the Ghent event.
Flanders Image’s CONNeXT event in Ghent showcased documentary films for the first time, some of which impressed industry professionals even more than the usual fiction projects.
Pieter Jan De Pue’s Four Brothers, about four Ukrainian siblings torn apart by war, won the work-in-progress award.
The international jury praised how “the story ambitions and scope of the project leaves an undeniable impression…how war can tear apart even the tightest of bonds.”
Bart Van Langendonck of leading Belgian production company Savage Film produces. The project previously won the Cph:Dox Eurimges Co-Production Award.

During a recent Reddit Ama, an executive producer of Captain Marvel seemingly confirmed a hidden Agents of Shield reference.
Captain Marvel certainly had its fair share of references to Shield as an organization, and with the appearance of a younger Agent Phil Coulson, fans of ABC’s Agents of Shield were happy to see their beloved television show represented in the larger McU more prevalently than in the past. However, an alert Reddit user spotted a sneaky cameo from a season 1 guest actor in the movie that may have been a subtle nod to a one-and-done villain if executive producer Victoria Alonso’s response during a Reddit Ama is to be believed.
Reddit user Pedgrid asked Alonso, “Was that a Pre-Blackout Marcus Daniels (a villain from Agents of Shield) tending the bar Carol and Fury were at? They share the same actor, Patrick Brennan." Brennan appeared as...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will skip the Zombies mode this year, but it does have a campaign.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, this year's installment in the popular first-person shooter series, won't feature a Zombies mode, a recent mainstay of the franchise. In fact, Modern Warfare is the first game to ship without a Zombies component since 2013's Ghosts, which instead had a mode called Extinction, where players faced off against hordes of hostile aliens.
According to Infinity Ward campaign gameplay director Jacob Minkoff, speaking to PlayStation Lifestyle, the reason for skipping Zombies this year is simple: Modern Warfare aims to be a more realistic shooter than the Black Ops series, which is usually the home of the undead horde mode.
"Because they focus on more of the stylized, graphic novel, super-hero experience, [Black Ops developer Treyarch] can have the much more 'out there' different types of gameplay in their games,...

Debuting feature helmer-writer Maryam Touzani makes her Cannes bow with “Adam,” in Un Certain Regard. The Casablanca-set drama shows how a pregnant stranger changes the lives of a mother and her young daughter.
What inspired your plot?
When I moved back to Tangier after college, one day a young woman knocked on our door, looking for a job. She was heavily pregnant, and behind her smile she looked tired and distraught. My parents couldn’t imagine letting her go in her state, especially since then most unwed mothers ended up giving birth in terrible situations, often on the street, because it was illegal to have a child out of wedlock. She stayed with us until she gave birth, and I went with her to give up her child for adoption a few days later because she believed she had no other choice. The experience moved me deeply.
What was your biggest challenge?...

Call of Duty Mobile features a fairly impressive battle royale mode that's similar to Blackout.
Call of Duty Mobile will feature a fairly extensive battle royale mode that will no doubt take aim at the mobile versions of Fortnite and Pubg.
Activision describes this mobile version of the battle royale mode as being separate from Black Ops IV's Blackout mode, but they note that players may "find some familiarity." For instance, both modes support 100 players, both modes will see players drop onto a map from above and scrounge for supplies, and both support solo, duo, and quad squad play.
The biggest difference between the two is the mobile version's inclusion of classes. There are six classes in the game that players will be able to choose from prior to starting their match. As you've probably guessed, each of these classes come equipped with special skills. Some of those classes are pretty standard.

Hey, "Blue Bloods" fans. Unfortunately, it's one of those times again where we have to inform you that your favorite show is about to take a small hiatus. However, this one won't last for too long, especially since we're close to the end of season 9. So, here's the deal. We have been informed that the next, new episode 20 will not be airing next Friday night, April 19,2019. No, no, no. Instead, CBS has scheduled it to air on Friday night, April 26, 2019 in its same 9pm central standard time slot. So, be sure to mark that very important date down on your TV show calendars. We don't have an exact reason for why they're doing this. We just know that they are. We're guessing it probably has something to do with scheduling. CBS probably wants the season finale to land on a certain night in May 2019. So, they're skipping a week to make sure that happens.

Madrid — Nabil Ayouch, one of the foremost Arab World filmmakers, is preparing “Blackout,” a real-time, near-future social-issue thriller drama series set on the border of Europe and Africa in and around Ceuta, one of Spain’s enclaves in Morocco.
“Black-Out” is set up at Ayouch’s Paris-based Les Films du Nouveau Monde and Casablanca label “Ali N’ Productions – which backed his latest two movies “Razzia,” a 2017 Toronto Platform premiere and Moroccan Academy Award entry, and upcoming “We Will Be Reborn,” a realist hip-hop musical. It is one of the potential highlights among 16 drama series projects to be pitched next week in Cannes at this year’s second and expanded In Development, a joint venture of MipTV and Canneseries.
Moroccan broadcast network 2M has boarded the project.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4's Blackout mode is getting a much-neeed update in the form of a new Alcatraz map.
Call of Duty: Black Ops IV's Blackout battle royale mode is getting a new map set on Alcatraz island. The map offers a much, much, smaller area than the existing Blackout map, which means that you can expect to enjoy a lot more close-quarters action than you might be used to in Blackout and other battle royale maps.
Games like Pubg have experimented with smaller maps before, and the results have mostly been positive. As we saw from Apex Legends, a little more action in a battle royale title can be quite refreshing.
A little more action also feels more appropriate for a Call of Duty take on battle royale (even though we happened to love the action featured in Blackout's original map). Speaking of traditional Call of Duty,...

Activision Blizzard confirmed that 2019's Call of Duty game will feature a new campaign.
The biggest Activision Blizzard story today is undoubtedly the estimated 800 people who lost their jobs as a result of the massive layoffs that rocked the company, but Call of Duty fans may be interested to know that it was also revealed during an earnings call that this year's installment feature a single-player campaign.
"It's going to feature an entirely new campaign, a huge and expansive multiplayer world, and of course some fun co-op gameplay," Activision president Rob Kostich said during the call. Company CFO Dennis Durkin added to that statement later by noting that the game will "appeal broadly to both existing and new fans" and is considered to be a "great step forward in the franchise that is also rooted in some of the franchise's most important history."

Alien: Blackout is an excellent new mobile game set in the Alien universe. Check out our review!
Release Date: January 24, 2019
Platform: iOS (reviewed), Android
Developer: Rival Games & Theory Interactive
Publisher: FoxNext Games & D3 Go!
Genre: Survival Horror
It’s safe to say that just about no one expected the follow-up to Alien: Isolation to be a mobile game inspired by the Five Nights At Freddy’s puzzle-horror formula, but that’s exactly what developers Rival Games and Theory Interactive bring us in Alien: Blackout. It’s easy to dismiss mobile games or view them as a downgrade from console experiences, but this $5 sequel is worth every penny and then some, with engaging gameplay, atmospheric presentation, spot-on voice acting, and just enough scares to do right by the franchise.

It’s now been almost 33 years since the release of James Cameron’s Aliens, and in all that time, the Alien franchise has yet to deliver another movie where the reception from fans and critics was better than mixed. Nonetheless, the demand for more films is still out there, and with the announcement of the new mobile game Alien: Blackout, many were hoping that this was just the beginning of a resurgence for the franchise.

Activision has announced a Battle Edition of Call of Duty Black Ops 4...why tho?
Today, Activision has announced the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Battle Edition. This Battle Edition is exclusive to Blizzard's Battle.net and will include Call of Duty's Black Ops 4 Multiplayer mode and Battle Royale mode "BlackOut".
This edition of the game will be retailed at $29.99 and will not have the iconic Zombie mode in-game. This was obviously taken out of the game to drop the cost, but if you want to purchase the zombie mode at a later date you can do so. As said, the game is $29.99 now, but after January 6th it will jump to $39.99.
With that said, this means the Zombie mode will be $19.99 to add it back to the game. I really don't understand the reasoning behind creating this version of the game. From what Activision as told gamers and press alike,...

Method Man recruited Redman, Hanz On and Streetlife for a forceful new track titled “Wild Cats.” The song will appear on the rapper’s upcoming album, The Meth Lab II: The Lithium.
Method Man opens his latest release with an impressively dense verse, a lengthy series of rhymes all based around the same sounds — “city,” “sticky,” “fit me,” “acquit me,” “tipsy,” “shimmy” and more. The rapper delivers these lines in the calm, full tone that has distinguished him since he first emerged in the Wu-Tang Clan 25 years ago. As Method Man puts it,...

Back when I previewed Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in September, I had several concerns about the final product. Would a lack of a single-player campaign make the package feel cheap? And would the team-heavy approach gel properly with the series’ audience? Admittedly, it was a difficult place for Treyarch to be stuck in. The series has been getting long in the tooth for quite some time now, and a blast of innovation was needed. So, while the new additions to the formula were welcoming, it was a question of whether the entire package would come successfully come together.
With no campaign attached, Black Ops 4 is one massive multiplayer package. You have the traditional competitive modes that the series shot to popularity with, along with Treyarch’s fan-favorite Zombies mode. The big addition to the suite of modes this year, though, is Blackout. A variation on the popular battle royale genre,...

Editors’ Pick: Paul McCartney, Egypt Station
“Egypt Station flows as a unit, structured like a long ride on a cosmic train, beginning and ending with ambient railway-station noise,” writes Rob Sheffield. “These days, he’s not on any kind of assembly line—he only makes albums when he’s got enough worthy songs saved up, which is why his recent work has been top-notch. … This album’s masterpiece: ‘Dominoes,’ one of those Paul creations that feels both emotionally direct yet playfully enigmatic. Developer Treyarch debuted the new Arsenal map for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” during Gamescom 2018 this week. But, if you didn’t make it to the show in Cologne, Germany, don’t worry — you can check it out in this new gameplay video.
“Call of Duty” publisher Activision posted the video to YouTube Wednesday and describes Arsenal as “hostile covert ops on a manufacturing facility of a powerful North American military defense contractor” where “someone may have stolen the keys to the castle.” The nearly 13-minute clip shows two teams competing in a Hardpoint match, where they must battle to control ever-changing points on the map.
Treyarch recently held a “Black Ops 4” multiplayer beta and it’s making some changes based on community feedback. The fog of war and body armor were both a little overpowered during the beta and they’re getting balance tweaks. The developer is also addressing issues with the respawn system,...

Now that “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s” multiplayer beta is over, developer Treyarch is outlining some of the changes it’s making to the game based on community feedback.
“With ‘Black Ops 4’ multiplayer, one of our biggest priorities has been to add depth to gameplay for an experience that will be more rewarding the longer you play it: we’ve added variety to combat, increased differentiation in gameplay items, extended counter play, and tightened the nuances of movement and gunplay,” Treyarch said in a Reddit post on Thursday. “What you played in the beta was an early version of all those changes working together for a game that we hope you found both familiar and new, challenging and rewarding, and fun for casual and competitive players alike. There is a meta to the game that will unfold over time, so we took a slightly conservative approach to changes in...

Battle royale is hot right now, and the “Call of Duty” franchise is jumping into the genre with its own entry called Blackout, developer Treyarch revealed Thursday during a live-stream.
Like other battle royale games such as “Fortnite” and “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” Blackout will drop players into a massive world where they have to fight to be the last person standing. It will reportedly have the largest map Treyarch has ever made, 1,500 times bigger than the “Black Ops” series’ iconic Nuketown. It will supposedly include a number of well-known locations and characters from the larger “Call of Duty” universe, including the original “Call of Duty” Zombies Origins cast.
Treyarch is also promising a bevy of diverse land, sea, and air vehicles, along with a massive arsenal and equipment based on previous “Black Ops” titles.

“Call of Duty Black Ops 4” won’t have a single-player campaign, instead developers Treyarch are betting on three zombies mode, a multiplayer mode and battle royale mode, the company announced Thursday.
“It doesn’t have a traditional campaign, instead we’re weaving that into each of the modes,” said Treyarch chairman Mark Lamia.
The game was revealed Thursday in a hanger packed with 900 fans, influencers and press, in an event that was streamed live around the world.
A massive screen counted down to the reveal and after a moment of darkness the three massive screens that lined one wall of the hanger went through a brief video history of the “Black Ops” games.

U2’s May 15 opener of its two-night stay at Los Angeles’ Fabulous Forum (the second is tonight) marked just a little under a year since the band sold out two dates at the Rose Bowl on their victory lap “Joshua Tree” tour, which ended up grossing $316 million for just 51 shows. Presumably, those who craved hearing the likes of “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “With or Without You,” “Bullet the Blue Sky” or “Where the Streets Have No Name” got their fill last time, because none of those concert staples is on the current set-list for the band’s new Experience + Innocence tour. This latest trek builds upon the previous 10-city North American outing in which the album titles were reversed.
