Great for a film student to watch...
This short film can be found on the second disc to the feature film "Monte Carlo". It's well worth seeing--particularly for film students, though I do doubt that the average person would get as much out of it. It examines the look and sound of "Monte Carlo"--in particular, the art director Saul Bass' impact on the film. Some of the many odd innovations he did was use multiplying images on the same screen, montages and a DIFFERENT soundtrack and cinematic style for each race, the use of strangely exaggerated sounds (such as heartbeats) all to create the perfect effect. While I didn't love the multiple images, the rest was great because you didn't consciously notice these subtle changes--but they impacted the viewer nevertheless. Interesting and highly unusual.
