Universal Orlando revealed new details about one of the most highly-anticipated lands in its upcoming Epic Universe expansion park: its very own Super Nintendo World.
Orlando’s Super Nintendo World will be the company’s second such attraction in the U.S., after the Universal Studios Hollywood attraction of the same name that opened early last year and has become wildly popular. The Orlando attraction’s Super Mario Land will have some of the same features as the Hollywood attraction, including a real-life Green Pipe, Mt. Beanpole, Peach’s Castle, Piranha Plants, Goombas, spinning coins, ? Blocks and Bowser’s Castle, where guests can take a spin on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.
One key difference: The Orlando version looks bigger, a benefit for guests not only in the fact that it has additional features, but because one drawback of the fan-favorite Universal Hollywood attraction has been that it’s fairly small and gets crowded quickly.

Welcome to the latest instalment of a brand-new feature here on Nerdly, where one of our comic gurus, Ian Wells, delves into comics history and dissects Comics Interview, the long-running journal of interviews and criticism from David Anthony Kraft (Dak).
Yak with Dak
The big news teased last issue is that Comics Interview is increasing its page count. Dak says now he may finally be able to put all of the features teased in #1 in one single issue. Just taking a quick comparison sample from this and the previous issue the page count has gone from 67 to 83. The amount of full-page ads has seen an increase from 24 to 32 which is a better balance between interviews and ads. There is a four-page ad in this issue which may not always be the case so that number can vary going forward. Lastly taking the two-part Doug Moench interview that started with a...

Not to be outdone by Dead Island 2‘s recent expansion, Techland has announced that Dying Light 2 is getting an update of it’s own with the much-requested Nightmare Mode, which adds “the hardest and most immersive difficulty yet” to the game, along with an array of additional elements.
Nightmare Mode for Dying Light 2 forces players to rely on tactics and strategic management of resources in order to survive. The new difficulty introduces changes to stamina management, called the Tactical Stamina system, limited Hud options for better immersion, and a flickering flashlight that goes out when used for too long. These and other additions aim to heighten the atmosphere give the overall experience a needed refresh for veteran players. Those who manage to complete the game on this highest difficulty will be rewarded with the memorable Waltz Outfit.

Developers on Steam might want to reconsider where they’re taking their games, as Epic Games has introduced two groundbreaking initiatives aimed at devs and publishers that could make a difference in their profits.
With the launch of Epic First Run and the Now On Epic program, the company is offering exciting incentives to lure developers away from competing platforms. If there’s a huge uptick in games released exclusively on Epic, this is probably why.
Egs vs. Steam: Is This a New Era for PC Gaming?
Steam might need to step it up after Epic’s latest move.
In a recent announcement, Epic unveiled two major initiatives that could dethrone Steam as the leading PC gaming platform.
The first, known as Epic First Run, is an exclusivity program aimed at third-party developers and publishers on Egs. Essentially, it offers developers the option to release their games exclusively on the Epic platform.

Fortnite’s fanbase is pretty open-minded; they accept the small changes that the developers bring to these games with every new update. Sometimes they would get new weapons, and other times they would get new equipment. New powerups, new ways to get around the game—things never stop changing in this game, and it’s not a bad thing either; these changes keep it fresh.
But sometimes there are some things that might sound trivial during the initial stages, but fans start hating them. There can be a bunch of reasons for it. Maybe one weapon is too overpowered, maybe fans do not love a powerup that gives players a brief moment of invincibility, or sometimes there are skins that allow players to blend into the environment. Similar to these examples, there are a bunch of things that fans want changed in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.

In January, Universal Orlando shared the first official “look” inside its highly anticipated new theme park, Universal Epic Universe, a development that the company expects to be a game changer.
On offer was a rendering of the park’s front gate and plaza — not exactly click bait for fans eagerly awaiting more news about the development. You can see that rendering at the bottom of this story.
Yesterday, however, NBC affiliate Wesh 2 in Orlando captured aerial footage of what it said was one of the rollercoasters already operating in the new park, which isn’t expected to open until 2025.
The helicopter footage shows a five-car coaster running along twisty black tracks. As they move through the turns the cars, which are blue, spin with g forces pull them this way and that.

When Chris Wedge's animated film "Ice Age" first came out in 2002, it was considered novel and striking for many reasons. It was set in prehistoric times yet eschewed dinosaurs in favor of megafauna living in the Pleistocene Epoch. The three main characters were a sloth named Sid (John Leguizamo), a smilodon named Diego (Denis Leary), and a mammoth named Manfred aka Manny (Ray Romano), and they were engaged in a great migration to flee the oncoming Ice Age. The plot of their first movie apes John Ford's 1946 Western "3 Godfathers," as the three animals discover a human infant that they must keep safe and deliver back to the then-evolutionarily-novel homo sapiens living nearby.
The design of "Ice Age" was striking, aiming for broad, stylized characters that were markedly different from the friendly, big-eyed protagonists of Disney pictures. It certainly helped that the "Ice Age" movies featured a character named Scrat,...

In 2019, rumors circulated that Shia Labeouf and Mel Gibson would be featured in a new movie about the affluent Ashkenazi Jewish noble banking Rothschild family. The project, which was said to delve into the mysterious and secretive world of one of the wealthiest families in history, was met with excitement by fans.
However, since the initial announcement, there have been few or no updates regarding the status of the film, causing many to wonder: What happened to Gibson’s Rothschild movie? The project was supposed to be helmed by Tetris director Jon S. Baird.
Mel Gibson in the John Wick spin-off, The Continental
Speculation has been rife concerning the causes of the apparent delay or possible demise of the project. The movie’s title and subject matter caused controversy then, and Gibson was forced to deny any link between Rothchild and the wealthy Jewish banking dynasty of the same name.

Exclusive: The Christmas tree trade in New York City is big business. Every holiday season, hundreds of thousands of trees are sold on the sidewalks of New York, and competition is fierce.
This is the foundation for a new feature documentary from Call Me Miss Cleo director Celia Aniskovich.
Aniskovich is directing and producing The Merchants of Joy (w/t), which comes from Boat Rocker, the company behind War Game, which just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and Hulu’s Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, Aniskovich’s company Dial Tone Films and Epic Magazine.
The doc will follow five families, who are equal parts street corner capitalists and Christmas die-hards, as they source, bargain, and hustle to sell as many trees as they can in the city that never sleeps.
It started as an article in Epic magazine, which was published in December 2022.

It’s an interesting month ahead on Hulu, as the streamer rolls out some of the series it’s been keeping in its back pocket for the holiday season.
On December 15, the first season of Such Brave Girls will arrive. The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory…just like in Little Women.” Sounds good!

Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group has acquired “Alien Legion,” a science-fiction comic-book series created by Carl Potts, Alan Zelenetz, and Frank Cirocco, with “Deadpool” director Tim Miller attached to direct, TheWrap has learned.
The studio picked up the IP with an eye towards building their own blockbuster space opera franchise. “Alien Legion” is being billed as “The Foreign Legion in space” or “’The Dirty Dozen’ meet ‘Aliens,’” according to creator Carl Potts, a long time Marvel comics Editor in Chief and writer.
The comic was part of Marvel Comics’ Epic Comics imprint in 1983 and centers on Torie Montroc, the young son of a mega rich interstellar business man who, rather than join the family business, enrolls in the Alien Legion at the lowest rank, joining some of the most vile and degenerate beings in the galaxy.

There isn’t a director-editor relationship in Hollywood more fruitful than Martin Scorsese and Thelma Schoonmaker. The pair have worked on every single one of Scorsese’s films since 1980’s “Raging Bull,” and first worked together on Scorsese’s 1967 debut, “Who’s That Knocking On My Door?” That’s twenty one movies in all, with Schoonmaker winning Oscars for Best Editing for three of them: “Raging Bull,” “The Aviator,” and “The Departed.”

But despite Schoonmaker’s three Oscar wins, a record for female editors, Scorsese only has one: for Best Director on “The Departed.” And as far as his longtime editor is concerned, he deserves many more than that.

Techland has pulled another crossover event out of left field for Dying Light 2. This time, World of Darkness’ Vampire: The Masquerade has paid a visit, just in time for Halloween.
After teaming up with Starbreeze and Payday 2 during the summer, Techland is kicking off a week of The Frightening, with the first part of the in-game event starting today, October 26, until next Thursday, November 2 for free for all Dying Light 2 players on PC, PlayStation 4 PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Xbox One consoles. The Kindred from Vampire: The Masquerade come to Dying Light 2 to lay waste to everything, and it’s up to you to stop them.
On this occasion, players will be more likely to cut off limbs and inflict more damage at night, and will also get a taste for blood. Vials of Banu Haqim, Brujah, and Tremere Blood will grant characters temporary powers focused on Combat, Traversal, and Survival.

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being reviewed here wouldn't exist.
Video games have the ability to transport players to interactive worlds beyond their wildest imagination, defeat bosses to become the hero they wish they could be in real life, and step inside an identity that they wouldn't otherwise understand. Or, in the case of a game like "Twisted Metal," drive an armored ice cream truck and blow up enemies with a remote-controlled rocket launcher. The vehicular combat video game was the lifeblood of the Dorito-dusted finger lickers of America in the late '90s and early 00s, and while there is a story players can follow ... most people opt to obliterate their pals with nuclear weapons. Yet, somehow, Peacock adapted the game into one of the most entertaining new series of the year.

Hou Hsiao-hsien may never make another movie, but if so few of the films populating his decades-long career have received anything like decent treatment it’s good enough to finally see them in proper condition. Despite many recent, heroic efforts to give Hou’s cinema its rightful appearance, it seemed somehow impossible 1989’s A City of Sadness would be restored—too vast, too much of a holy grail, too often considered his single greatest work—and at some point a milky DVD rip becomes your very last hope to complete a filmography.

It may be Comic-Con weekend, but if you see Henry Cavill trending on social media, it’s not because of a surprise appearance by the actor at the fan-favorite convention.
On Wednesday, Deadline reported hearing “buzz” that Cavill would make a surprise appearance during Warner Bros.’ Saturday Hall H panel to talk about the future of his Superman character. The rumor then spread like wildfire, igniting expectations for fans that Cavill would not only take part in the Comic-Con panel, but also share news about Superman’s future.
None of that came to pass on Saturday morning, when Warner Bros.’ panel was used to tease only two projects: “Black Adam” with Dwayne Johnson, director Jaume Collet-Serra and other cast members in attendance, and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” with Zachary Levi, Lucy Liu and others hyping up the DC sequel.

If you’ve been waiting to watch Christopher Nolan’s confounding sci-fi thriller “Tenet,” now is the time to finally get to it on your HBO Max watchlist. Nolan’s latest film is one of many movies leaving HBO Max in July, the full list of which you can read below.

If you’re looking to prioritize some selections, “American Gigolo” was Richard Gere’s break-out role — and it would be a good time to watch ahead of the upcoming TV series starring Jon Bernthal.

Grab your Christmas lights, dice, spiked bats and anything else you can think of because “Stranger Things” Season 4 is nearly here.
After three seasons of compounded otherworldly encounters, the original group, plus their older siblings and guardians, are back for more adventures in the long-awaited new season. New faces and thrills alike also lie in wait for the young heroes of the hit Netflix series.
While Season 3 bottled up every kind of Midwest summer activity — from Dustin’s return from camp to the town carnival — packaging the anticipation in that season’s trailers with two classic ‘80s songs “Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crue and The Who’s “Baba O’Reily,” Season 4’s trailer sets a much different tone with Journey’s “Separate Ways,” which fits the divided characters as well as the darker, more ominous threats the gang will face. Dr. Owens’ voiceover seals in the impending doom, saying “a war is coming,...
