Since the budget was so low, it was decided early in pre production that the crew would all act in the film to save getting actors in. On most shoot days, it was not uncommon for some crew members to have to run into a scene after operating some equipment.

The team Batter is playing for is the Beaudesert Knigfishers. Even though the team is portrayed as enemies of the main characters in the film, writer/producer Michael Skelton is friends with a majority of the team and regularly attends their home games.
The rugby league footage edited into Sweet FA is of a match between the Beaudesert Kingfishers and the Southport Tigers. Even though the Kingfishers are shown as losing the game 56-0, on the day they won 13-10. The directors had to wait 75 minutes into the game for Southport to score. Ironically, the Kingfishers reserve grade side was beaten by 70 points earlier in the day, but the film was shooting in a different location.
During filming of the rugby league sequence, Matthew Okine was teased by members of the general public over his likeness to rugby league player Lote Tuquiri.
