Charlotte Church rose to fame at a young age — a very young age.
The singer/songwriter first captured the attention of fans at just 11 years old, calling into British chat show This Morning in 1997 and singing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s operatic classic “Pie Jesu” from 1985’s Requiem.
Days later, she made her first TV appearance — singing the tune on Jonathan Ross’ Big, Big Talent Show.
There to introduce a performance by her aunt Caroline Cooper, Church stole the spotlight with her soaring soprano. Not only did the audience go wild as she hit the high notes, but Ross told the...

Charlotte Church has opened up about her Channel 4 series The Charlotte Church Show, revealing that she would like to get back into comedy.
The singer, whose chat show ran for three series, explained that she would consider a return to comedy but wouldn't want to make any compromises over its content.
"I would love to do something like that in comedy again, I love doing comedy and I loved doing that show," she told Digital Spy.
"Especially the first series of it. The first series was a bit more edgy and we were free to be a bit more surreal with it but then because it got quite successful and the channel sort of jumped on it and wanted it to be this, that and the other, and kind of made it have a more mainstream appeal, then it lost something I thought.
"So it's the same really, whilst...

Exclusive: NBC Universal International has acquired independent U.K. production company Monkey Kingdom. The pact represents the first acquisition at NBCU International by the company's TV production president Michael Edelstein. It also marks the third production venture for NBCU International following the 2008 acquisition of Carnival Film & Television and the launch earlier this year of Wttv, NBCU's joint venture with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. It is part of NBCU International's expansion under president Peter Smith as NBCU looks to achieve $5 billion in non-us revenues. Under the terms of the agreement, NBCU International will acquire 100% of Monkey Kingdom as well as its library rights. Monkey Kingdom was founded in 2001 by veteran producers David Granger and Will Macdonald. The company, whose main focus is in the unscripted area, has produced such series as The Charlotte Church Show, Comedy Roasts, My Kind Of Town, Make My Day, The Passions of Girls Aloud and Newlyweds.

Charlotte Church is one of the UK’s most successful, talented and beloved young performers. A Welsh icon, classical and contemporary songstress and mainstream television hostess, she continues to entertain audiences across the world with her glowing, natural charm and burgeoning talent.
Born in Cardiff in 1986, Charlotte first came to the nation’s attention in 1997 aged 11 when she sang Pie Jesu (written by Andrew Lloyd Webber) over the telephone on the television show This Morning, followed by a performance on ITV’s Big, Big Talent Show.
Only a year later she became an international sensation with the release of her debut album Voice Of An Angel in 1998. Showcasing her unique vocals across a collection of arias, hymns and traditional pieces, it sold over four million copies worldwide and made her the youngest artist ever with a No. 1 album. It also propelled her to double platinum success in both the UK and USA.

London -- Commercial web ITV's production and distribution division ITV Global Entertainment has sealed a development and distribution deal with British indie production banner Monkey Kingdom, the parties said Thursday.
The deal, described by the two as exclusive, will see the ITV division back Monkey's push into drama with support for a development slate of projects for U.K. and international broadcasters. The two will handpick projects on a case-by-case basis to work on.
No financial details were disclosed, and ITV declined comment on the time frame for the arrangement.
Monkey managing director David Granger said the deal with ITV is a sound commercial move.
"Whilst many bemoan the fact the scripted world is going through a difficult stage, to us it feels more like the time's right for a new creative and commercial approach," Granger said.
ITV Global Entertainment director of acquisitions and co-productions Emmanuelle Namiech said the link...
