There will be blood

Warning: Spoilers
As a huge fan of the old starcraft game i was looking forward to this game immensely. It did not disappoint. Create and control an entire unsc army. Including warthogs spartans and scorpions(oh my). The graphic are good the fmv sequences are great and the game play is quite frantic.

I had no quibbles over a console controller

for a strategy game it was simple and worked like a dream.its not quite as challenging as i would have hoped and i would have liked a space battle level or two (al star trek-armada) but its a inspiring solid effort with even the small details of the halo-verse included for the fans boys like my bad self

Best of all it feels like a halo game from its forerunner shoes to the tip of its energy sword. Lets have a flood based sequel as i never got to play as them

Needs working on.

In all, Halo Wars is a good and well structured game. The story really does tell more about the UNSC's further origins and I'm glad at least three Spartans are usable. But as much as it's good, it's also quite bad. Simply because of the game play; I hate the way the number of structures and units are limited, and I just think they could've added more units. But I enjoy the upgrades, although I'm still sad only four total turrets are available, as well as only 30 units (40 as Covenant) and only six maximum structures (Fortress/Citadel). Maybe Command and Conquer could be a guidance for Halo Wars, although the two games have their pros and cons. Still, I think Halo Wars is a really great RTS game, and I recommend it to all Halo fans, especially that the Limited Edition unlocks the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack.

Underrated

This Game is very underrated! i recommend playing it now. Even tho this game got some problems it is still a fantastic game. I recommend playing Halo wars 2 instead since it improved a lot of things. But i can think of some things that's not very good about this game, for an example the controls feel very weird since it is on console an the game fits more as an PC game.

Freakin' great

You know, I'd always thought Halo games are waaay too overrated. That was until I played them. Sure, Halo 3, for example, doesn't look great, but it's just awesome to play and it has this truly EPIC story. I loved it - and then I bought Halo Wars... just to be impressed like never before.

I don't like RTS games. I enjoyed only the first C&C, but the rest wasn't for me - too long, too hard, too boring. But HW is nothing like them - it pure FUN. This game is full of great ideas and there's no two missions that feel the same. There's always something that makes them unique and original - like the avoidance of the death ray, switching off the force barriers and other stuff not seen in other strategy games.

The game is demanding but not frustrating, it plays quick but is not too short. Graphically - it's just amazing. And it's really comfortable to play with a joypad! There's only one vice...

It's the plot. Sure, it's epic, but the writing, the characters, the dialogue - it's just not the same league as Halo 3. Well, at least the movies are beautiful and well directed.

Halo Wars is simply THE BEST RTS GAME I've ever played (and I've played a lot). I absolutely love it. 10 out of 10.

As good as it's FPS cousins.

Just bought this game and I'm sold on it's beautiful qualities.

Having just played the demo and then purchased the full game I got to say that the game simply rocks for so many reasons. I'm not a huge fan of RTS (Real Time Strategy) games. I'm the kind of guy who mostly plays FPS, racing, and 3D action games but Halo Wars changed my mind upon first viewing. First off the interface is clean, the controls are responsive and it's VERY easy to place units on the map, building resources, and commanding armies. The tutorial does an excellent job of teaching you the ends and outs of strategic mobilization of ground and air troops( though I only got to command ground forces). Even more, it even reminds you if you forget how to place units and build and train armies, very nice. Like it's FPS cousins, the graphics and sound effects are top-notch and with tight control and a story that delves even deeper into the conflict between the good and bad guys in the franchise with beautiful cinematic cut-scenes coupled with superb voice acting and well-written dialog is pure bliss that the Halo series is known for. And with online and co-op play with the possibility of content downloads via Xbox Live, is already sweet frosting to an already delicious cake. That's not all, it's also a turning point in the series: The first Halo game NOT released as a FPS.

With the series' already stellar reputation and rabid fan base, In all aspects, fans of the series are positively sure that in the hands of Ensemble Studios, the finished product is nothing short of amazing and with the release of Halo 3: ODST coming out later this year, Halo fans and FPS aficionados will DEFINITELY have a lot to look forward to this year in what is already a celebrated franchise that's as culturally relevant and revered as Star Wars; the original trilogy, of course.

Halo Wars. Coming Soon in Spring of '09.
