Swimming with ...

A weird movie to say the least. And one where th english/international title works best (head above water) - no pun intended and all that. It is about trying to stay sane - not sure if you would say it succeeds. Also maybe the viewing audience is meant by that - can you keep it together? All kidding aside, you really have to be in the mood for this. Not sure if Mullholland Drive is the best comparison (especially because that movie is better quality wise), but it is really giving you some riddles or whatever you want to call it.

Is this the real world? Is this just fantasy? I reckon Queen or lovers of that specific song may find more to this than others. I did not have any ice cream before I watched this (sorry for the pun), though I doubt that would have changed my viewing experience any way. Unless that is mean to be or mean something different ... anyway I did not have any of anything. Maybe it would have helped elevate certain things though (no pun intended)

Like Molholland Drive

Warning: Spoilers
I was reminded of Mulholland Drive, the darkness, the comic moments of absurdity and camp, the lighting/colors and the way the scenes transition semi-abruptly. But most of all, if I am reading the film correctly, the dream/fantasy life sequences, in particular the ending.

The film held my attention more than it did for the people whom I saw the film with, and the audience reaction was mixed in the theater I attended. Some people laughed all of the way through and some people were not as responsive.

Also, I had a nice ice-cream before I went into the film. I'm not sure if this affected my experience of the film, but I'm willing to bet that it didn't.
